ok, has no one else heard that Brad and Anglelina have one nanny per child? And that on vacation, they had originally let two or three take off on their own vacay, but they had to be called back because Brad and Angie couldn’t handle all the kids! Okay, adoption is great! no matter where the child comes from. the child is a HUMAN BEING! A CHILD FROM CHINA NEEDS TO BE JUST AS LOVED AND CARED FOR AS A CHILD FROM AMERICA, OR SPAIN, OR MEXICO OR ANYWHERE! THEY ARE HUMANS IN NEED OF SOMEONE WHO CARES!!!! WHY DOES IT MATTER WHERE THEY COME FROM??!? OR HOW THEY LOOK??!! OR THEIR SPECIAL NEEDS?!?!?!? THEY ARE HUMANS WHO DESERVE A CHANCE!!! And if you can’t handle having so many kids, like Brad and Ang CLEARLY can’t, then don’t adopt so many. There is a limit to how many fellow human beings can one two people can take care of! The only reason their parenting is in question, is because they are celebrities! They are ALWAYS in the lime-light, always in magazines! That’s not healthy for children. That’s why so many of celebrity children grow up addicted to drugs or in jail. Because they want to escape their parent’s shadow and have their own life, so they take away the emotional pain they have from their celeb parent’s abcense by doing things like drugs and alchohol. So yeah, I think their parenting should be questioned. Especially when they say, “We eventually want to adopt one from every continent.” NOT, “We want to adopt as many children as we can help.” So yeah, their idea of adoptive parenting is kind of suckish. And no one should question how many kids i’ve adopted. I’m 16. In the future, when I plan to have kids, if I’m unable to have one(because I WANT to experience pregnancy, and the closeness of growing a human) I will adopt, if possible. If I am able to, I will try to adopt. I am all for it. It’s just like people say you need to take a test before having kids, to see if you should spawn. You need a thorough test before adopting, just as well.

Try just one of the kids my married girlfriend and I (I’m a longtime close female friend and special needs advisor and advocate) work so hard to bring to the US for medical care. Knock yourself out to raise the 10s of thousands of dollars just to get to the point where you might be able to save ONE HIGH RISK child through Reeces Rainbow. (www reeces rainbow (all one word) . com , if you really care.)

Her most recent adoption was finalized on 12/27/08. Now to bring her home and get her the medical care to save her life. Over 15 SPECIAL NEEDS children she’s fostered, adopted and raised to independence, knowing that sometimes that means life in a group home trained to wipe tables in order to contribute to society for them, it’s a far better life than sitting in their own crap in a corner in some overseas orphanage.

She used to adopt US, but you know what? Those kids are so riddled with issues from drug abusing parents that she was too heartbroken to continue knowing that their own parents made them have their extensive problems. Don’t tell me that’s horse crap either, she’s a pediatric neonatal ICU nurse who spends her nights listening to crack and heroin addicted babies squall and vomit while she holds and rocks them, helping them go through withdrawal.

When we’ve needed money to help ourselves with the kids’ needs we tried going public and contacted Angelina Jolie for help, among many others. You know how you get in touch with Rosie, Ellen, Oprah and so on? You don’t at all. Not unless you have a high-end publicist. Your publicist contacts their publicist. If you’re lucky. Trust me, having begged this woman for help and never hearing a single peep back from her or her people, Angelina gives a crap about no one but herself and her self image. She doesn’t care about children. She cares about what looking like she cares about them can do for her.

When she got involved with Brad she lost the adoration and respect that she had with the highbrow public and was CRUSHED. She replaced that love by surrounding herself with a menagerie of people whose affections she could ALWAYS manipulate blindly, CHILDREN. There are children in need and then their are sociopaths who need to be needed and adored so badly that they will do ANYTHING to secure that fix. If you think Jolie is some sort of a wonderful woman, consider yourself HAD.

Angelina’s need to be needed and worshiped, to be totally irrevocably indispensable is the issue here. She’s out of control.

Mayken, what’s with the repeated usage of the words “build a family?” I find that more offensive than “buy a family.” Why not simply HAVE and LOVE a family? I never “built” my family. Buying though, we did more than our share of THAT.

So you don’t want adoptive kids to be referred to as bought but it’s okay for adoptive parents to be able to pick and choose – I want a white one, I want a Chinese one, I want a healthy baby, I can’t handle an older kid or a special needs kid, I want, I want, I want. Well Mayken – as someone who was adopted and lived my entire life as an adoptee I can tell you that I certainly felt bought. I take no offensive at all to this jab at Brangelina – I think it’s quite funny.

It’s ironic that the only people I ever see getting their panties in a wad about adoption jokes are the adoptive parents.

But they are being ridiculed for how they are building their family, that is, by adoption as well as giving birth. Therefore, whether meant or not, the notion of adoption as a legitimate way to build a family is being ridiculed.
And using the term “buy” is extremely offensive to adoptive parents who are frequently (and I kid you not) asked who much their kids cost. Also, talking of the children as if there are collectibles or somethings.
I cannot speak to whether their adoptions were handled in an ethical manner, but I do know most adoptive parents are just trying to build a family. The aren’t “collecting” or whatever. And with the frequent changes in whether international programs are open or closed to the US, it is not really that surprising that Angelina has had to go to different countries to adopt. My husband and I began our process in China, but due to long waits, changed to the Russian program. It’s harder than you think to adopt twice from the same country these days.

So how many children from the US foster care system have you adopted? Shouldn’t come down on them unless you got skin in the game. And even then, what business is it of yours how they build their family.
Seriously, I hear this argument all the time and it is so stupid. First, there are NOT “millions that are in foster homes/orphanages” in this country. (When was the last time you SAW an orphanage in the US BTW?) There are hundreds of thousands – which is hundreds of thousands too many in my book. But that is not even remotely like the numbers or children in orphanages and non-family of origin settings around the developing world.
Also, the vast majority of US foster kids are NOT eligible for adoption – the courts have NOT removed them permanently and the system is still trying to get them back with their family of origin.
And those that are in need of adoptive homes are either older (i.e adolescence and teens) or have special needs that many parents are NOT prepared to take on. Many prospective parents are not prepared to these children. It is foolish to force them to. Children end up dead or right back where they started when we do.
My husband and I tried the domestic route. (Too expensive and too much competition to be the “perfect” couple.) We didn’t feel able to take on the children available through foster/adopt. But I guess we are just being “trendy” and “worldly” for adopting internationally.

I wouldn’t mind so much if they would take a few kids from the millions that are in foster homes/orphanages here in the United States. I see it as more “Oh, look how worldly and good we are, going to AFRICA to adopt a needy child!”
There are plenty of children here who need help.

Yeah, it’s confusing. In the U.S. people, food, vacations (pretty much anything) pertaining to France, Italy, & Spain are generally refered to as “mediterranean”. “Latin”, or more accurately, “Latin American” refers to those from any Spanish-speaking country in the western hemisphere. Brazil is often lumped in there, too. So my old classmate whose family moved from Germany to Argentina, had him in Argentina, then moved to the U.S. is a Latino. Even though he is 100% German. It’s goofy.

I think it’s crafty – you get to indulge your maternal/paternal urges without having to go through pregnancy and childbirth – WIN!
One of my guys main reasons for not wanting smalls is cos women in my family don’t react well to pregnancy (I mean more than most – my mother was made to “have a chat” about anorexia when she was 4 months pregnant with me, I made her so ill that she couldn’t keep anything down)….. perhaps I can persuade him to adopt if we decide to have littl’uns.
Anyway, Brad and (the sex goddess that is) Angelina can provide unwanted children with a better lifestyle – surely that’s a WIN for the kids they adopt?
