His trial happened soon after the L.A. riots and the African-American community was still convinced the L.A. cops were out to get them–that’s what colored public opinion about the trial, if you’ll excuse my unintentional pun. Passions were still riding high and nobody was really thinking it through.

But in the years since they’ve been watching how he’s behaved, some of the things he’s said and even that book he came out with a couple of years ago. Black people are not stupid, just hurt by history. He’s had less and less support from them since the murder trial, and now this.

I’ll be very surprised if you don’t have to search hard for people who still think he was innocent.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, that jury didn’t find him guilty of armed robbery and kidnapping, they found him guilty of the murder of two people.
