I cannot fathom why any *intelligent* person would not realize that a huge, heavy, dense-as-Katy cake would be hard enough to use as a trampoline. Not to mention the professional caterers that got paid $68795870587603 for a cake to do this stunt with, or any of the people that helped set it up. Why did they not make a cake shell full of pudding or something that would actually splat? Maybe the baker hates her? *reads too much into this* I feel for her. At least now I know that any Epic FAIL I have isn’t as bad as this one.

Obviously no one told Katy that multi-tier cakes like that come with structural support (otherwise they’re too heavy and collapse without anyone even jumping on them).

Jill Sobule did “I kissed a girl” back in the 90′s and, although shocking in its time, was really cute, sweet, and incredibly well done instead of the overly slutty, attention whoring song Perry put out.
“I’m trying to be shocking!” No, you’re painting yourself in a light that’s very negative towards women as well as demeaning to the struggle lesbians and gays go through. There’s a difference between expressing your sexual nature and just looking like a total, unrespectable whore.

Fair enough, we have a difference of opinion here. I feel that exposure that comes by way of a cynical, exploitative attention-whore isn’t worth the bother. On the other hand, it seems you feel that anything that makes homosexuality into a talking point will help reduce the stigma and encourage “straights” to reconsider their prejudices. And now that you’ve made your point, I am re-evaluating my position. I may well be totally wrong here.
My *real* issue, to be honest, is with people using sex to sell things. I like TATU’s music. I hate their whole “lesbian” schtick. It’s degrading to men to be thought of as nothing but perambulating penises, that will buy anything and everything, as long as it has pictures of boobs on it.
As an aside: You have gay friends that think bisexuals are just “trendy”? It never fails to amaze (and disappoint) me, how so often members of oppressed groups don’t learn a damn thing from their own oppression. Like Black people who discriminate against homosexuals. Or gays who look down on bisexuals. You’d think that, having experienced discrimination 1st-hand, people would realise how wrong it is, and would treat other groups more fairly.
You’d think it, but you’d be wrong.
BTW: I’m new here so I don’t know the rules and culture of this particular web community. Am I breaking any rules by actually being serious about something? This is a humour site, after all, and this is not the “News and Politics” flame-fest, so maybe I’m outta line.
I like it because it busts the stereotype that we’re all butch, mullet wearing creepos. I kissed a girl and I did like it and as much as I hate chicks who act bi just for attention, I do appreciate that they give us a softer look. F*** everyone else.
I’m male and have a number of lesbian friends. For every butch amongst them, there’s a cutie. More to the point, they are, without exception, amongst the nicest, most acepting people I know.

When you see a guy pouring gas on his pants and lighting them on fire, people sometimes say “What was he thinking!” That answer is easy. He was thinking “Herghhergheh Firefirefirefire! Heurghheurgh! Coool! Firefirefirefire! Heheh.” Or in other words: He wasn’t thinking at all.
But THIS? What was SHE thinking? There is clearly some sort of thought here, but what? “It will look cool when you splat a cake!” Ehm, no it won’t. “It will be sexy when you have cake all over!” Ehm, no it won’t. WHAT was going on in these peoples heads?
Dude… If you had a cake that big in front of you, and millions of people cheering and whatnot for you… How could you NOT jump in it?
Besides, it looks like a lot of fun! Minus the whole, you know, solid cake part.
