Holy cow! I don’t know it’s choreographed (sp?) but it still looks as though someone is going to get hurt. I guess that’s the point though, isn’t it, to make it look as though someone has been hurt?
And there is what you can show people who always say “It’s totally fake; anyone could do it.” Yeah, try this, and still come out with your face in the place it’s supposed to be.
As a wrestling fan I must say, yeah, it’s totally fake but the wrestlers really are getting banged up quite a bit. It’s like making it look like you got hit by a truck when you only got hit by a sedan (and if you mess up, you might just get hit by that truck anyway).
As another wrestling fan i think it may be important to remember the difference between choreographed and fake
. As said above they do fake how much they are hurting but they must really know how to fight like that to fake it. Sort of like the instrument thingy, it is only possible to play it jokingly badly if you can already play it. Or maybe that jsut applies to trumpets :S

The situations aren’t real, it’s all just a manly soap opera. But how they go about it is very real, wrestlers have seriously injured and killed themselves doing these maneuvers, even with years of training. They can be very hurt even from the simplest of maneuvers. The fights are “fake” the pain at the end is real.
Simpler way of putting it: The outcome is pre-determined, but the physicality is very, very real.
Anyone remember Sid Vicious’ leg-break in WCW? Thats enough proof right there.
uhg, yeah that was sickening. The first time i saw it mny jaw dropped and i grabbed hold of my own lag to make sure it was still on right. That was just nasty. ><

You cannot “fake” physics. I don’t understand people who go “that’s fake!” It’s more real than a fight sequence in a film or TV show. It takes a great amount of timing to perform the rapid succession of maneuvers without seriously injuring the other person, and still make it look like it hurt.
I would like people who say it’s “fake” to go up to folks who have ended their careers because of a split second mistake. Tell the family of the late Owen Hart how “fake” it all is.
Tell Mick Foley, who lost an ear, and had a tooth knocked out and shoot out of his nose all in the service of the fans how “Fake” it was.
Fact is, no matter how much you brace. A 200lb man coming down at full speed from a 15ft drop is still going to hurt.

Even if its planned and not a “real” fight, they do put themselves on the line. I had to stop watching wrestling though, the story lines were just way too ridiculous.

as for all the fake comments, when people say its fake, they are referring to the implied effects versus the actual effects of wrestling moves: for example a correctly performed DDT has the ability to break someones nose/Jaw, a spine buster has the ability if done with intent to break a persons back. Most of the locks and holds if they were applied with correct force would either dislocate or break the limb it is being applied to. From that perspective wrestling is fake. But either way when you see a 7 ft, 300 pound wrestler such as Kane diving from the top rope, getting a good 10 foot of elevation, no matter how well the move is executed, and how well either of the wrestlers braces correctly, its still gonna hurt
and everything is kinda scripted

Staged is a little better because there’s only so much rehearsing can do to prepare you. Wrestling’s a very dangerous sport even when everything’s been tested and retested. Just ask Owen Hart, may he rest in peace. There’s no guarantee that you’ll come out safe, so yeah… I totally agree with the caption. Oh…and congrats to Jeff for the title win. <3

and as for the wrestling being fake, it may be like a soap opra but the pain is very real, a friend of a friend is a wrestler and i seen him wrestle over the weekend and after the match he was in a great deal of pain
