  1. burnt twiggy says:

FIRST! And this was actually the only other movie besides Rainman that i could even stomach his ass

  2. Forge says:

Also, casting FAIL. Tom F*cking Cruise was the ABSOLUTE LAST person I pictured playing that role when I read the book. I mean seriously, Maverick as a 400-year-old vampire? WTF??

    • LEILA says:

The author’s exact sentiment – on Cruise actually playing the role that is.

      • ChannieChannie says:

Yeah… Loved Brad Pitt as Louis, though. But maybe that’s just me, don’t hurt me, other commenters! *hides in ph33r*

        • Forge says:

Brad Pitt manages to get away with everything, he’s pretty amazing.

          • Ayeka says:

I actually like him a lot less since his running off with Angelina. I don’t think I’ve seen a new movie of his since he did.

            • LEILA says:

Just cuz he ran off with her? Do you believe it has affected his acting ability?

              • Ayeka says:

It has severely lower my opinion of him, thus making me disgusted with really looking at him now, plus he really hasn’t been in anything I have been interested in.

It does not lower my opinion of movies he was in that I already liked (Interview, A River Flows through It, Fight Club) though.

      • Ayeka says:

Yeah because her original choice of Rutger Hauer was so perfect. He was such a great choice in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. *rolls eyes*. While he has blond hair, Roy Batty looks even LESS like Lestat than Tom Cruise.

And Anne Rice was disappointed only at first. She was actually impressed with his acting.

I loved this movie when it came out (and OMFG, I actually read the book first, maybe it’s the fact that I was not a hardcore purist when I was in 6th grade) and still love it today, despite the fact that Tom Cruise has a case of the crazies.

      • samantha says:

nope-she admitted he was perfect when she actually saw the film.

    • BAW says:

Exactly–Tom Cruise as a blond, gay, French vampire?

  3. Bugg says:

Tom Cruise was a casting FAIL for this movie, but Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas (spelling question) were most definatly casting WINS!

  4. foomanchu says:

    I like Tom Cruise.

    • LEILA says:

I am trying to remember if I like him or not. I rented Mission Impossible I and II again. I haven’t watched III yet.

Dude needs a little dose of sanity though…and Scientology rehab. Oh GAWD, they’re coming for me, aren’t they?

    • Ayeka says:

I enjoy some of his movies. And as wacko as he is, he is still quite attractive.

I really do want to see Valkyrie, but I think I am just hypnotised by his eye patch.

  5. Coe Coe!! says:

    Wat movie is this from??

  6. kindii says:

love the movie used to have a crush on them both when i was a teen. now that i know that he is NUTS i could care less what he does and armand should have been WAY younger. he was only seventeen when he was turned so antinio was way to old. still better then queen of the damned though movie-wise. they killed that one.

    • Falck.. says:

So because of what he does off screen you can look back at acting you thought was good and now call it bad?

He’s a brainwashed Hollywood moron off screen, but he is not a poor actor.

      • Wimple says:

So why can’t he come up with a German accent in Valkyrie?

        • KingBarney says:

That may have been a directing choice. Remember, he took two years to learn Japanese for Last Samurai and did a fair job of it. I bet he coulda come up with a german accent if he tried and had voice lessons for it. A half way decent german accent isn’t all that hard to accomplish.

        • Ayeka says:

Hell, why doesn’t he just speak German? Why doesn’t every movie air in the language that it is set in?

I agree that is was probably a directing and producing decision to appeal more widely to an American audience.

      • Ayeka says:

        I agree comepletely.
I have not fond anything he has done to be morally repugnant enough for me to be disgusted with every aspect of him in any case.

    • Green Is Good says:

Wow, did “Queen of the Damned” stink on ice. I wanted that 90 minutes of my life back.

      • kindii says:

he may not have stunk in any of his other movies but that is the only one i have ever liked him in. i do wish he would get some sense and see what a crock scietology is though. i am glad that i am not the only one that though Queen of the Damed sucked.

  7. gobo says:

Queen of the damned? God that film hurt me. Sigh. It was just awful. There was so much in the two books it should never have been crammed into one film. With terrible casting and music and scripting and ugh; everything.

  8. bill says:

Hey I thought Tom Cruise was AMAZING in this film! The man can actually ACT!!! not like some other people *um…Daniel Radcliffe??*
I mean come on, Anne Rice at first didn’t want him as Lestat (I don’t think anyone really could imagine him as a blonde vampire…) but even SHE admitted he was pretty damn good!

And quite honestly I don’t know anything much about Scientology so I have no opinion on that or his “craziness” for following it…I think he’s an awesome actor, personally. :)

  9. Hannah says:

wow. tom cruise and brad pitt playing vampires = EPIC FAIL

  10. GuilliMichen teh 8th says:

Back when I wasn’t ashamed to like vampires.. :<

  11. MJtheWerewolf says:

    umm… ha!… good one!

  12. vampeys. says:

That’s not Tom Cruise. That’s Lestat. Played by Bradd Pitt. Tom Cruise played Louis.

  13. sleepyjoe256 says:

    oh god no
