Um… yeah… vampires are not real. In the original folklore they were predators and did not sparkle. In the Twilight saga, which is more of a love story, they do. Dracula, Edward… To-may-to, to-mah-to… Still fantasy.

Yeah, this may be true, but Angel kicks ass, and they make fun of his broodiness on his show, in Twilight everyones like “oh, Edward’s so broody *swoon.* Also, the only time Angel watches Buffy sleep is when he’s evil.

Have you tried “Blood: The Last Vampire”? If you can get past all the unrelated chatter, it’s one of the strangest vampire novels I’ve ever read.
Also try “Fledgling” by Octavia Butler.

I’m reminded of an episode where Angel complains about inaccurate “stereotypes” about vampires perpetuated by the media, such as that they sleep in coffins. I can totally see Angel complaining about Twilight for the same reasons, lol.

Nosferatu, one of my favorites.i truly didnt want to watch Twilight because i knew it was going to be flippin gay but my sister made me, i like the story but it drags it waaaaaaaaaaaaayy from what real vampires are suppossed to be, authors now a days are ruining what vampires really once were, blood-thirsting, sex addicted vamps, now its just prissy sparkly Cullens.people are supposed to be fearing them not making them sparkle.

For me, this vampire sparkle is too sissy and gay, Edward is gay! They are more a fairy than vampires. Angel and partners from Buffy and Angel are real vampire, they know why be a vampire. It’s be a fighter and fight with yourself, don’t need be pale or cold. That’s so old! A vampire need be special, Edward is a fairy. Angel has a soul, is SPECIAL!!!!! I prefer a thousand more times Angel than any other vampire. Twilight is awful. ANGEL/ANGELUS TEAM!

I don’t know, because this vampires are different than the others, but I think I don’t really care. Almost everyone is crazy for the twilight saga, but I prefer with no asks Buffy and Angel! When I read Meyer’s description of Edward I saw on my mind Angel. I think she was inspired by Joss Whedon’s vampire. If you see Robert it is not everything the book’s caracther or Angel was and still be. I think can be because Angel is the man! Hot, mysterious, sexy… But Edward it is a kid.

sunlight sensitivity does not come from folklore, but inspired it. Lupus. Look it up. Blood conditions, coughing up blood, malaise, psychosis, fever- a bit like Lucy in Dracula. This could be the basis of both vampires and werewolves (Lupine).

Stating the obvious is not a WIN, it’s a ZING, and by no means is it EPIC. Hitting a home run is a WIN, hitting a grand slam is EPIC.
Or, to keep it topical, turning one person into a vamp is a win. Turning a Marine squadron to help you rule L.A. (or B.C. where the sparklers hang out) would be considered EPIC.

Tbh, I really enjoyed twilight. No it’s not as good as some other movies/books. But at leat Smeyer put a different spin on things. It gets boring reading the same sort of thing over and over again. Oh and the guys are fiiiine in the movie. (;

Buffy & Angel were amazing! David Boreanaz is like completely stunnin’! Best vampire ever in my opinion. (:

Look I am obbessed with vampires, you have no idea!!! I am of course a fan of WHEADONESQUE Vampires (i.e. Buffy/Angel), and honestly I see a lot of similarities between ANGEL and EDWARD, the whole “Im in love with the one person who gets me they just happen to be human” thing. Most of you are right about the vampire sparkly thing, kinda made me angry too… hell I avoided the books and movies for this reason. Then I gave in and read them… Twilight is pretty decent, plus for all of you so pissy about the whole badass vampire thing… Almost all these vampire movies/lore have at least one bad vamp gone good. The twilight vampires sparkle yes… but other then the CULLENS…. they all EAT PEOPLE!!!!! SO lay off… Steph Meyer took her own spin on things…. PLUS YEAH ANGEL COULD SO KICK EDWARDS ASS!!!

Why don’t you read more then 1 vampire series before you comment on Vampires.

Try Dracula. Or Lynsay Sands series of Vampire Romance. Or try playing the Legacy of Kain games. Or read the Hellsing manga. Or read up on ancient Slavic Vampire myths. Or try Varney the Vampire. Or…you know…ANYTHING but Twilight.

Actually, the original Dracula was able to go in the daylight. And ancient Slavic legends had cases where sunlight didn’t effect them at all, so That’s about the ONLY thing Twilight might have gotten a little bit right.

Everything else is just fail, though. :\ at LEAST give them FANGS if you’re going to call them Vampires! FAIL, Smeyer, FAIL!
