Yes that would be nice. For world news I like to watch French 24 or The German news. Most cable companies carry them, and the way the report things is a nice break. Instead of saying “U.S. Forces engaged in a fight.” they report it as “U.S. Forces were attacked…”. They also report on al the good things our Military are doing around the world. They talk about all the schools we have opened in Iraq and the Hospitals and the rights we have given to the women of Iraq and Afghanistan. Being the wife of a solider who is in Iraq right now, it is nice to hear about all the good that my husband and all the troops are doing, I hear the stories from him about the good we have done over there, but its nice to hear about it on the news. Its just really sad that its not American news its news from other countries. Mabe if our own media would report on that our soldiers would not be hated so much by their own people.
The soldiers were NEVER hated by their own people. People just hate the politicians and the policies that send them there.

Here’s a thought for everyone…compare the news programs on Fox, CNN MSNBC and Headline News (that will not include The O’Riley Factor, Hannity or any other opinon show). Write down and/or listen to the words being used instead of just taking in the quick message they give. As a former journalist, I can assure you that I see and hear more bias words against President Bush and Republicans and praising words for Democrats and President-elect Obama on the CNN, MSNBC and Headline News news programs than I do on Fox news programs. I hear more bad news about our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan than I hear good on those three, where Fox will report failures and triumphs of our troops. Don’t judge Fox for it’s commentary shows, but for its news programs.

Slant is a completely different universe than Fox’s propaganda. That’s not slant, it’s deliberate distortion and outright lying.
Every newsource is made of people and they have personal agendas. Good journalists strive to keep their agendas out of their reporting, but it’s impossible to remove entirely. Still, striving for that neutrality will deliver FAR more accurate (not infallible) news than an agency that pushes a partisan message, no matter what the actual facts are.
But, I know, you need to feel like you have the moral high ground, so if someone dares to point out that Fox is egregious lies, you have to immediately strawman that person and claim they believe that other news agencies are free of any slant at all, despite the fact that no one has claimed that any newsource is free of bias.

Across the political spectrum it was shown in a poll that the viewing audience of Fox is more balanced than the audience of the other major cable news networks. Almost as if Dems and Repubs alike know they can get a full story from Fox.
And as a soldier, I know that we are despised by a wide majority of those who “report news” from the left. We don’t mind, we expect it.
