Spock WAS better. Don’t you remember Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan? Spock was captain of the Enterprise-C, training the new crew (including the second chick from Cheers, something-Alley). Then he gives control over to ADMIRAL Kirk and all hell breaks lose. Spock could have handled the whole thing much better.

In case my ability to remember the plot of a Star Trek movie at the drop of a hat doesn’t indicate it, Patrick could totally steal me. I love Picard soooo much more than Kirk. The episode that comes to mind is when a Ferengi steals Luxanna Troi for his wife. Picard has to proclaim his love for Luxanna and threaten the Ferengi to save her. He quotes Shakespeare and it is amazing. Of course Luxanna is Luxanna afterwards. Kirk would just have killed the Ferengi and started a war.

I disagree that Kirk was a better captain. He was a DIFFERENT captain. But how many red shirts did Kirk loose over 5 years? Do the math and then think “which one would I rather have my son/daughter serving under. Kirk was a loose cannon. Pikard was more thoughtful. As was appropriate for the time frame (Vietnam vs Desert Storm)
