Hello, all you 13 lives people, that rule was set in place by the timelords who are now dead so it would stand to reason that the limit is no longer enforced, additionally, in an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures (best thing next to Tennant who and better than Smith’s incarnation) the doctor stated to Clyde that he had 507 incarnations, this though was probably an offhand, first number that came to mind type of thing for the same reinforcement reason.

You know what I think is too damn weird?
People are always saying how hot David Tennant is… ok, yeah, I admit it… but what about the Doctor??? The actual Time Lord??? He is as hot as Tennant, but he is uber-nerdy and a genius and brave and everything. I get tired of people saying how amazing the actor is, when the character is a hundred times sexier. I agree that Tennant is amazing, but I offer a counter-scenario to your scenario: David Tennant comes in the door and asks me to leave my fiance (if I was married lol) and I’m all like WTF (and then ZOMG), but the 10th Doctor shows up about 5 seconds later and asks me to help him save some random planet from terrifying aliens from my worst nightmares where I will probably get killed and he might not even take me as a companion if I didn’t die, just thank me and leave…
I’d go with option 2 gladly.

You are to be commended on your fabulous taste in TV programmes!

Short version: 13 lives, 12 regenerations (stated many times). The idea that there were more Doctors before Mr. Hartnell comes from the 1970s story Brain Of Morbius, where the production team wore costumes and appeared on a monitor representing the Doctor’s past!

And when they run out of lives, they’ll probably do what they did in Curse Of Fatal Death: he’ll just regenerate and say “weird. Oh well.” And that’ll be that. Mind you, they could get a fun story out of it…

As seen in ‘The End Of Time’ Parts 1 and 2, Gallifrey is STILL burning and the Time Lords are Still alive. They were just sucked back into the time vortex that the Doctor trapped them in all those many years ago when the fate of the universe hung by a thread from the Time Lord Presidents hand.

If they possessed the means to return from the vortex, then I am sure they could find another way (Now that they have the Master and his genius mind) to return to being.

Therefore, returning the knowledge of Gallifrey to the universe, with which the writers of Doctor Who could use to extend The Doctor’s life span.

Northern Ireland is, as the name suggests, located in Ireland not Great Britain. But it is still part of the UK. Therefore it is incorrect to include it when referring to ‘Britain’.

Your pedanticism has forced me to correct you on this mistake as you are potentially ruining our reputation as a nation.

‘England’ and ‘Britain’ have been pretty much synonymous for two centuries to everyone except the Welsh and Scottish. Whilst ‘Britain’ and the ‘United Kingdom’ are synonymous for some, it is still inaccurate, has little historical precedence and less widely used.

I suggest in future you should be more forgiving to those who aren’t troubled by British infighting and if you must correct them you could at least be ‘technically’ accurate.

Additionally Dr Who is filmed at the BBC studios in Swansea, although a lot of filming on location takes place in Cardiff and across south Wales. I daresay many of the residents of Swansea would hate to be mistaken for the residents of Cardiff almost as much as if they were called English.

Its not English, its filmed in Cardiff which is in Wales which you can combine with England, Scotland, and Northan Ireland and call Britain! Sorry to be technical, but the welsh don’t have much apart from Doctor Who and sheep so we shouldnt exclude them, they might get upset.

What won me over was his HAIR. And the fact that he was Scottish. I used to think that Scotts just couldn’t no matter how hard they tried pull off a different accent but now I know different.

The main reason I don’t think I’ll like Matt is because he seems a little dark. What I liked about DT was that in the TV show he always seemed high and jumpy but could always pull a serious face on us. I just think that Matt will always have that “I lost Rose boo hoo hoo/I’m that last timelord everybody’s talking about boo hoo hoo” face. And Doctor Who isn’t really a dark show. While it seems that with the new companion and the new Doc they’re going to make it like some sort of R-rated horror TV show like True Blood.

(Sorry about the long post, I just had a thinking moment there.)
