dude: this just shows how AMAZING an actor he is. he can sell Wolverine AND Peter Allen (“The Boy from Oz,” which is the name of this musical) equally well. And the 19th century English nobleman (Kate & Leopold) and you get a great overview of this guy’s talent.

Looks a good deal thinner than he did in X-men. He had a very healthy and burly look there. Here, he is damn near anorexic but I might just be seeing an unflattering angle.
maybe he gained weight for the part of wolverine, many actor… many dedicated actors will add or lose weight according to their roles. he looks like he got really ripped for the xmen, that actually looks more like what a normal weight would be for someone who didnt do lots of physical labor for a living.
he did bulk up to play Wolverine. something like 2-3 hours a day of working out/weightlifting.

When I got to explain to my wife that the guy who played Wolverine was onstage doing song and dance and portraying one of the world’s most famous gay men, I laughed so hard I almost passed out. Jackman is SO da bomb.

Yes, that’s Hugh. ‘Shaking his can’ and now, WITH maracas! That picture is from The Boy From Oz, a Tony award winning musical about the life of Peter Allan, a pop singer who originally hailed from Australia and was as gay as the day is long
That’s pretty much what the show is about, Peter’s rise to fame (helped along by Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli) and his struggles with being gay. Peter was known for his eye-blinding costumes in his performances, kind of like Elton John was back in the day, except that Peter preferred Hawaiian shirts and other shirts with prints . . . and sequins . .. and for being pretty over-the-top in general. Hence, the pineapples.
As for his weight, Hugh gained a considerable amount to play Wolverine and lost it all and then some in order to play Peter, who was not the world’s most muscled entertainer. Peter Allan eventually died of AIDS and they show that too, onstage, so Hugh needed to be slender. Hugh did say at the time (BFO was from 2004-2005) that he really loves his food and being on a diet for Peter was really tough.
Hugh also said at the time that Peter Allan was very fun for him and yeah, I can believe it. I saw the show three times and each time it looked like Hugh was having the time of his life. Oh — and Hugh is very straight
At least he’s not wearing the white tuxedo with sequins . . . or the shiny leopard print shirt and the skin-tight black pants (which also had sequins!). It could be a lot worse.
Go to youtube and search “Hugh Jackman Medley” and watch the first video. One of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen. “The Boy from Oz” Tony’s preformance is great too.
