  1. brainfire says:

i want to work for/with/next to these guys!

  2. LEILA says:

They’re soooooooooooo annoying to me. I don’t know how people can stand watching them.

    • d says:

They’d be better if the did real science.

      • sassy says:

HTey do real science, they just use it in unusual ways.

        • wit says:

Real science includes RIGOR…look it up.

          • Chinook says:

If you people who don’t like the show watch it and pay attention, they actually know what they are doing. Secondly, they deal with urban legends and myths, as is that’s pretty absurd, especially when the myths they test call for things that would otherwise be so improbable and unlikely that it would happen under normal circumstances.

And blowing up stuff is how they have fun. Wouldn’t you like to use inordinate amounts of explosive to destroy things?

          • StreetPreacher says:

RIGOR also makes a boring TV show.

I work in a lab. Mad science is a lot more fun when you don’t have to both proceed it and follow it up with four hours of prep logs and NELAC paperwork.

      • Fatzilla says:

(comment best read with the national anthem playing)

They DO do real science. When you blow something up, you’tr participating in science. When you bake bread, you are participating in science! Science requires no white coats or fancy labs, only that you feel the need to question the world, and hold it up to experiment.

Or to put it another way: http://xkcd.com/397/

        • chimmeychango says:

i have to agree with the lack of true science. they tend to come up with a conclusion before they exhaust the possibilities, mind you they are trying to be entertaining which is good because they are both special effects guys, not scientists. what they do is more entertainment with a dash of pop science which seems to be what modern television views like, little substance, lots of flash. that being said kudos to them, i find them entertaining when im not getting to involved with the fact that all too often the conclusions they make are premature.

      • jay says:

the main basis of science is experimentation

what they do is they take urban myths and internet legends, and experiment with them, thus giving us knowledge

science is derived from the latin scienta, which means knowledge

therefore by doing this crazy things, they are giving us more knowledge about things, they are doing real science

    • sassy says:

It’s called a reality show! WHy do people watch the BAchelor? Or the Biggest Loser? Or True Beauty? Mythbusters at least incorporates knowledge and science, not whos cute, who’s skinny or who is going to land a rich dude…

      • LEILA says:

Noboby in their right mind would watch that CRAP you mentioned. Anyone who watches them are in need of a SERIOUS life makeover.

I guess what I am trying to say is, as annoying as they are, I would watch Mythbusters instead.

    • A-Non says:

It takes a certain kind of person to like Mythbusters. I’d rather watch Mythbusters than Survivor or Who’s The Biggest Whore in America (AKA The Bachelor)

    • A-Non says:

People can stand to watch them because they aren’t retarded douchebags that think they’re entitled to be famous because they’re rich and skinny.

  3. sassy says:

Long Live Adam and Jamie!!!!!!!! Making Science cool to my kids deserves to be celebrated! I <3 Mythbusters! (Asaide from the fact that they are less than 45 minutes from here…..) Only here in the bay area could this work!

  4. Stardrake says:

There’s no myth in this caption…

  5. Nicole B says:

I have ALWAYS I wanted their job. That and Samantha Brown…. “reporting” on the best hotels and destinations in the world? Yeah, more like your job is one big vacation. And, yes, I am jealous.

  6. A-Non says:

I would happily stand along side either one of these two. :-) My boyfriend actually gets told he looks like Adam a lot. I hate admitting it two years later, but I was initially attracted to him because that was my first thought when we met. ;-)

  7. I_Love_Jim_Henson says:

    BEST JOB EVAR!

Besides, who wouldn’t want to work with these guys? I DO!!!! XD

  8. timmis says:

:O Yay Tory’s coming to my university on Saturday!! Go Mythbusters!

  9. Cecona says:

Me and my dad watch this show every time it’s on. It’s just so awesome! I agree they have the best damn job in the world but (and not to be a mood killer) I think you have to be incredibly smart or skilled with your hands to be able to handle a job like theirs. Sure they get to build and blow up all kinds of stuff in the name of science. But calculations are needed for almost everything and a lot of the stuff they build needs very steady and skilled hands. Like that ark of the covenant with the little Adam and Jamie angels Kari made. Those things were so detailed @_@ And don’t forget ALL THE ROBOTS!…I think I lost the point I was getting to…anyway! Awesome show, awesome people, awesome everything!

  10. Casper says:

Can you imagine the casting meeting?

Ok, we’re gonna do this mythbusters thing,,, who we gonna get? Let’s look at some resumes.

Hmmmm,,, Here’s an engineering professor from MIT,,, “BORING!”

Here’s a technician from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,,, “BORING!”

Here’s those 2 special effects idiots that set themselves on fire when we were shooting “Deadly ice road lumberjacks,,,”. The short one makes a mean queso dip. “SOLD!!!”

My quarrel with them is that they absolutely do not do real science, or engineering, or even decent fabrication. They take a myth, make a stab at recreating it – much like a monkey poking at a TV set with a stick, fail miserably, then declare it a myth.

No nimrods, you did not prove that it cannot happen – you proved that a Walrus and a D-bag and the cast and crew of MTV’s real world can’t replicate it in an afternoon.

I’m a real engineer, and I can’t watch them. I work with a bunch of real engineers and scientists, and none of us can stand them. Mostly we wind up fighting the urge to smash the TV.

    • timmis says:

Ahh yes, education ruins the joy one finds in life. I can no longer watch a movie without identifying the different types of shots or lighting affects used…

    • sassy says:

None of those “scientist” you know like them and that is no surprise… Adam and Jamie get money and celebraty for being science geeks…THe other guys… are just science geeks. And they do real science…. there are 3 stages to busting any myth.. and alot of brainwork put into it. People that trash the show are the people that think they are a) Smarter than them b) cooler than them or c)jealous that those guys make the money and get the women.

Sorry, but don’t knock it ’till ya try it.

    • Tatiana says:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s not the way the show got started.

      • keshet says:

Yup. Adam & Jaimie were originally just hired to build stuff. The director quickly realized that they were much more interesting than the “expert” who was hired to host the show!

Have never met Jaimie, but Adam & Grant are both really nice guys. I don’t care that the science isn’t perfect. I think they do a good job with limited time and budget.

        • Casper says:

Ok, fair enough. I will concur that they are fine entertainers. Just hard to watch with all the technical errors.

          Example:
Remember when they tried the “cable pulls the rear end out of a police car” myth? The original movie pulled the live axle rear end out of an early 60′s Ford, which was held in place to 4 spring hangers and 2 shocks. Weaken the spring hangers and it’ll pop right off, just like it did in the movie.

SO—- Pete and Re-Pete here get a modern Ford police cruiser and try to do the same trick. When the (predictably) fail at it, (First try with a skinny li’l cable – Huh?) they say “MYTH -, B.S., can’t be done”… Well,,, wrong fellers. The modern car has an independent rear suspension with the differential housing fastened in with a LOT more than 4 little spring hangers. You might as well try to jerk the engine out with a piece of dental floss.

So in that case they didn’t “Bust” a “Myth”,,, they just proved that they can’t do 10th grade physics and know nothing about cars.

Entertaining though. It would be even funnier if the one with the Walrus ‘stache would occasionally hit the other one with his hat.

Ok, rant over. Sorry, yeah, they’re great, whatever.

    • Anna says:

But still the idea is really good.

  11. LOLOne says:

I think Jamie is totally hot.

  12. butterfly says:

Real science or not, it’s fun to watch them blow things up and they do seem to know their way around a scientific calculator. But the really good thing, their show and others like them are showing kids today that science doesn’t have to be all boring lab settings. They emphasize the skills in math and science both of them have to have to do their jobs. Anything that makes our kids want to learn seems to me to be a good thing.

  13. D-Day says:

    Envy….

  14. Cecona says:

A tad bit late, but the link in my name might have to do with the whole Mythbusters is/isn’t science argument people are having.

  15. Billy says:

I love this show, but i think discovery channel may have ended it, because i haven’t seen a new episode in almost a year? If anyone knows, please respond to this comment.

  16. christine says:

hope you have replies turned on since my mobile browser won’t let me reply as a thread.

they are still filming. you can read realtime updates via adam’s twitter account @donttrythis in which he talks about what they are doing and pictures etc

  17. mbfan says:

    amen

oh n dere was a kari byron nude scandel recently, just thought i’d let u guys know ;)

  18. T.R. says:

I have been saying this exact same thing since the show started. Damn, I wish I could even just intern for them.

  19. Anna says:

I wanna go to their high school reunion. Geek WIN!!

  20. attorneys says:

what on earth is this picture all about?

  21. gibsongirl89 says:
