I don’t think C.S. Lewis intended this scene to be quite so creepy.

That faun looks like he’s at the beach in a wonderful sunny day…just telling.
I don’t really see why this scene is creepy. It must be his ears.
I think it’s because some horny stranger asks a little girl back to his cave for toast and sardines.
… Good one!
Quite True.
1. As Bob pointed out, its an adult male inviting a young female that he just met to his house
2. Satyrs are usually associated with sex in most myths
3. Later on he hypnotizes her. When she wakes up, he claims he’s done a “terrible thing” to her. O_O
I need to watch this movie again just for the lolz.
altho i think he was a faun, not a satyr.
Yeah, I think you’re right. I couldn’t think of the correct word before. Kind of similar in appearance at least.
They’re the same creature actually. The only difference is one is greek, and the other roman.
Thank you for noticing that.
As an epic Greek mythology nerd, I have to say the technically correct term would be satyr, because it came first.
It’s the mind of the beholder.
LOOKS LIKE PEDOGOAT IS BACK!
I LOLZed at this
Yeah, she is kinda creepy.
too pale for my liking
My thoughts exactly!!!! ROFL!!!
That scene was creepy?
And then 3 million fanfics were written…
Yes. I wish C.S. made it so that Tumnus was like, around Lucy’s age or something…then the FanFictions that I encounter everyday would be a lot less…
…like that.
I could not agree more – that stupid faun freaked me out – in every scene he was in. Just —- yuck!
My claim to fame: as a child my sister and I were chased around the garden by him – before he was famous, obviously. Creepy?
James McAvoy chased you around your garden…?
ROFL
It probably wouldn’t have been so creepy if they gave him a shirt or something. If they gave him like a fancy coat and a top hat and other strange accessories, it would be more like, “LOL, strange little creature man wants to have a tea party!” and less, “AHH, a man with hairy nipples is luring a young girl to his secluded cave!”
Opps, commenting fail. I meant to comment on the whole thing, not reply to my own statement. :\ WTF
Pedogoat FTW!
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this when I watched it.
oi i totally agree. it was very creepy O__O
wish JAmie would chase me around the garden. LOL
It’s not creepy! I don’t think James McAvoy could even possibly be creepy if he tried. He’s too good.
I found it so creepy b/c I always pictured Mr. Tumnus from the book to be a sweet old man type. Then all the sudden you have this half naked hot young guy…yeah that equals creepy.
Less hot with that fake nose, tho…
Nah, I liked McAvoy in this getup before Atonement whores found him.
ha ha ha thank god I wasn’t the only one that thought that scene was creepy.
It was creepy enough in the book.
The animated version was very bad.
Thje live action? skeeved me so badly I couldn’t finish the movie.
The original movie is much worse at this point. Mr. Tumnus is all hairy… and sweaty… and old…. Ughhhhhh…
i dont think c.s. lewis intended for james mcavoy to look quite so sexy in this scene
YES! amazing
funny you say that. james almost didn’t get the role because he’s so young and good-looking.
The song “Hello Little Girl” comes to mind…
I love you if you know what I’m talking about.
“There’s no possible way to describe what you feel, when you’re talking to your meal!”
“Come Lucy, let Goatboy show you his magic flute….”
do you weirdos really see “creepy” and “sexual” everywhere? that’s pretty sad…
Okay, when you have children you can tell them that shirtless strangers who invite them home are totally innocent and well-intentioned. See how that works out for you.
Actually I think it was the intention of the author, but I guess we should just miss the point and be happy.
Um, yes actually, yes he did intend it to be creepy. Rumor has it that Lewis was a known pedo. Ew.
I would suggest spreading FACTS and not RUMORS… kthx
There are rumors about Lewis Carrol, maybe, but definitely not C. S. Lewis.
um. yeah. in everything i’ve read about c.s. lewis, i’ve never heard that. this is something that should be backed up before it’s spread around.
Lewis was awesome. The end.
Well, considering that he was a good guy in the end, I don’t think the author meant it to be creepy passed the beginning. It was a Christian thing (the author’s version of it), where appearances can be deceiving. But it also served as a double meaning. In the end, you’re supposed to forgive him his ills because he was under the control of evilness. A timeless, required evil, I might add.
He is the Judas goat.
this is funny and related:

When I saw this movie….this movie made him seem like a child rapist…this is tooo true!
When i was watching this scene for the first time in a movie theater i just thought to myself: ”Oh-oh… i dont like where this is going…” You could practically feel the tension in teh air after McAvoy said something along the lines of “I am a VERY NAUGHTY fawn..” since most people brought their kids to see the movie… And you could actually hear relieved sighs when the scene was over. This was such an obvious pedo moment, how could nobody notice that?
Considering the novel, when watching the movie I actually thought “wow, that guy did an okay job of NOT making Mr Tumnus look like a total pedo”
Also, it’s rather sad that in modern society pretty much any adult/child interaction has people going “omg they look like total paedophiles!”
Extrapolating from the trend (which yes, I know, is pretty much always going to be completely wrong, and yes, I’ve seen the XKCD comic on the subject) We’ve got about 20-30 years before babies are taken underground and raised by robots for the next 16 years until it’s safe to put them in an enviroment where they may encounter an adult.
hahahahaha [about the robots] i totally agree [with the entire comment]
course you might want to read up a bit on C.S. Lewis… he might not of considered it creepy at all…
c. lewis = creepy
