I depends, if you think; only black people should be able to say the n word, cowboys farting around a campfire, cowboys beating gay guys, a horse getting punched in face, an old lady getting beat up by cowboys, and cattle being rapped then I am going to sat no.

But if you are a red blooded American boy who isn’t an uptight overly sensitive douche bag then you will find this movie great

If the studio had paid the least bit of attention, it wouldn’t have gotten made. Even when it was done, they refused to release it.

I wasn’t terribly fond of it. I love Gene Wilder, though, and tried my best to enjoy it. Definitely wasn’t “Young Frankenstein”, which, in my opinion, far outshone “Blazing Saddles”.

The people that only see the fart jokes and n-words in “Blazing Saddles” are missing the entire point of the movie.

Yes, those jokes are in there, but they’re part of a much more subtle parody of everything from other films in the Western genre to then entire American culture.

Rappers and comedians today talk about blacks using the n-word as a means of “taking it back” from the white man.

“Blazing Saddles” beat all of them to it by about 15 years.

How can anyone say that Blazing Saddles is fart humor? LOL. That statement alone makes me laugh. It’s full of wit and subtlety as well as some things that you don’t have to think about to get! That’s what makes it so funny, and ‘Real Humor’. Yes, I do miss it. Very much so. Hardly any other ‘modern’ movie encompasses the whole spectrum from subtle to gross as well as this one does. Humor today is just of a different type. No less funny than something like this, but just different. Nobody really goes for satire anymore.

‘Cos I thought the remake removed every last vestige of Gervais’ subtle, gentle humour – and I’ll admit that it took a couple of watches of the original before it sunk in and the lightbulb went on and I went “Oh NOW I get it!!!!”

I don’t have to watch Blazing Saddles to laugh; I laugh just remembering. I don’t know how many times I have gone over in my mind the “sing a work song” scene. I don’t want to engage in a debate about yesterday’s funny being better than today’s, but today’s “funny” tends toward the cringe-worthy, as on the Office, or to the man-as-doofus/woman-as-ditz variety. I have not seen Tyler Perry’s movies, but the medea books have made me laugh until I cried. And his humor tells the truth. So I guess there are some laughs left out there…I’m looking forward to them.

See I honestly have to say that Spaceballs is probably one of my least favorite Me Brooks movies. I still like it on occasion, but I can’t watch it often. Maybe its because I’m not a real big Star Wars fan.

Though I do often refer to using the Schwartz and Pizza the Hut.

Still, History of the World Part I is a FAR better movie, imho.

When I was 12, I hated it, even though I’d never really sat down to watch it. My uncle watched Blazing Saddles and the Airplane! movies every weekend, without fail.

I watched it again when I was 19, and was so, so very sad that I’d never given it a chance before. Its amazingly funny. Still not my favorite Mel Brooks film, but its DEFINITELY worth it!
