the market determines the value of everything. talk all you want, but this man has made more money than 99.99 percent of Americans. That likely includes everyone who will comment on this, including myself. The market (IE PEOPLE) have determined this value. I may not like his music, I may deem it as stupid and low-brow (oh, and by the way, opinions are never facts) but his record sales create his value, and it’s a hell of a lot more than 50 cents.

Not quite – the market determines the current price of everything. In the cases of artistic endeavours, posterity determines value. If people are still listening to 50c in 30 years or so, then he’ll actually have worth, rather than just populist appeal.
