I don’t know that he fixed things that were broken so much as use everyday common objects that were laying around to kick ass/save the day/steal diamonds/whatever else needs doing.
I distinctly remember him fixing a kid’s bike with a bit of tin (part of a lunchbox or something) in an episode where he had amnesia.
Oooo, I forgot he had amnesia! What a great 80′s plot device that was. It’s no wonder that as a child I thought any small bump on the head might result in amnesia.
MacGyver was the man! Give him a roll of duct tape and he could save the world!

alas, no. He is married with at least one child (male ~10). he left Stargate so that he could spend some time being a father.
you gotta give Mac props tho. The only time he used a gun, was as a wrench to turn on a fire hydrant!
Actually, he used a gun one other time, in either season 1 or 2 I forget which. He held it by the barrel and used the grip to bash open a locked door, while making a comment about the proper use of the thing.
