Shame they gave Gimli’s rank as the more useful member of the Fellowship to Legolas in the film. Stupid Elf.
What? Gimli was supposed to be Captain Obvious? I never noticed that in the book…
No, I mean Legolas stood around did nothing in the book, but everything in the movie.
Gimli, on the other hand, kicked arse in the books like there was no tomorrow (and he won the bet for most kills)

Exactly! They had to give the cooler role to the prettier person–like it’s some twisted law of Hollywood.
Stupid Orlando Bloom and his man-pretty charms. They hardly focused on Gimli’s character development to boot.
But did they toss Orlando? I think not!
Whats funny is that the actor is actually a pretty huge dude.
Much the way Andre the Giant was only about 4 inches taller than Mandy Patinkin, but Fezzik towered over Inigo. It’s so cool.
Actually Andre the Giant was about a foot taller.
Everyplace I read had Mandy at 6’4″ and Andre at 6’9″, which okay means five inches. I’m reasonably sure it wasn’t a foot. I’ve seen Patinkin in appearances with people whose height I actually knew, and he’s a pretty tall mutha. Next time you see Princess Bride notice Inigo is standing with his feet like, five feet apart next to Fezzik.

He is the tallest of the nine of the Fellowship. They say it made the group shots a little easier because he could stand with the Hobbits and be to scale. And his scale double was Gimli probably more often than he was because of the allergy to the prosthetic makeup. It was also pretty cool that he also voiced Treebeard.

Yeah, the lols here basically only fall into those two categories. Either “This celebrity from before I was born was awesome! No.. I don’t really know anything about them… I just think it makes me look more cultured to pretend I do!” or “Boo modern celebrities are no talent train wrecks.” Typically there’s not even anything funny about it, or a joke. It’s just a plain straight out bash with no humor behind it.
