The “Hungry” monster on those diet commercials (Weight Watchers?) reminds me of Gossamer. I can’t understand why the woman on the commercial is so averse to him….he’s cute, he’s cuddly, and he’s bringing you FOOD! I want one.

Agreed, but I think I disagree with labeling Bugs Bunny a metrosexual. He had his moments, but it was usually to screw with people. And I wouldn’t classify it as metro…just gay (kissing Elmer on the lips, etc.).
Sometimes that made me question Bugs sexuality
Kissing Elmer on the lips wasn’t about the gay, it was about seeing the look on Elmer’s face afterwards. Duh!!

But somehow Bugs was able to get away with it, and still be funny. Hmm *scratches head curiously*
Probably because at the time it was still considered quite absurd. Besides, who would get a manicure in a booby-trapped castle?

Bugs is kind of a interesting character. He got away with a lot of cross dressing, and otherwise gay antics back in the 30′s and 40′s.
See also: Milton Berle and nominally, Robert Preston although I suspect Preston really WAS a drag queen. Once upon a time before everybody was so goddamn uptight about it, dressing up like a woman for laughs was fricking FUNNY.
If you think about it, Bugs’ cross-dressing was always done to show the dimness of his opponent, more than any preference of is own, and we DID see him go ga-ga over females repeatedly. Think of it as a precursor to things like “Bosom Buddies”, or even Flip Wilson’s Geraldine….
Bugs was a confident Buckaroo Bonzai heterosexual that was able to generate sexual self-dissonance in his opponents and escape during their doubt and self loathing phase.
I don’t know what it is about Gossamer that makes him one of the funniest cartoon characters ever made. This cartoon just about killed me and my sister when we first saw it.
