    Little Red Riding Fail

  2. paws4thot says:

I’d be quite happy to have my similarly aged girl wear an outfit like that (maybe black denim rather than leather trousers)>

  3. ewwee says:

That’s funny, my daughter hates their clothes because she things it too preppy, suburban.

  4. Gin says:

Does anyone else find the “homeless white trash” part a bit offensive? It sounds like you mean that white people who are homeless are automatically trash.
And don’t the poor and homeless have lives that are difficult enough without being compared to the likes of the celebrities we mock on this site?

    • jl5691426 says:

Yes, it offends me, too. That’s not so much for the reasons you state but because I’ve always thought that the phrase implies that people of other skin tones are automatically trash.

      • kthnxybe says:

I read it both offensive ways in this instance.

“White trash” is often used as a short hand way for Americans to mean a combination of uneducated, lazy and poor, and that is problematic for the reason you state.

I also agree with “Gin” in that “homeless white trash” sounds mean in a way that just saying that the outfit made her look like she sleeps outside wouldn’t.

        • randomasshat says:

Although, there is the fact that this individual actress/model, if she actually weren’t an actress/model, looks like white trash, which I don’t take offense to because it means nothing.

    • dk says:

I think they probably have more to worry about that coming onto this site too…so get over yourself and take it as the jokes it’s intended to be!

    • SuperJump says:

yeh and most homeless people arent white.

      casual racism

      • diane says:

Most of the homeless people I’ve seen are white.
        IRL and on the news…

        • Neza says:

5 Internets for separating real life from the news.
And living in downtown Pittsburgh, the homeless population is pretty even, especially after the recession. Suspiciously devoid of any North or South Asian ethnicities, though …

  5. d says:

I’m 46, and the funny thing is, back in the dark ages when I was in highschool, buying clothes at The Gap was pretty much equivalent to shopping at Target-they just had shelves of Jeans, cords, and racks of shirts-it was a big deal when they had jean skirts, but this was also when you could buy jeans for $8.00 and Cords for $12.00……

  6. Garbledina says:

So now people are judged by not even what clothes they’re wearing, but where they’re from? This is even worse than branding.

    • FluffyLady says:

Being judged by where they’re from is something far from new. People have been judging others for centuries based on what they call “home.”

  7. Chelc says:

This promotion was for “red” to help stop the spread AIDs in Africa…I don’t think its cool to be making fun of it in general.

  8. UpTheYingYang says:

Corporate Charity. “For evey $1,000…no…$10,000 dollars spent We at the GAP will send one whole shinny penny to Africa!”

  9. Free as a bird says:

I doubt that all stuff at The Gap is like this. I looked at their website only a month ago, and not everything they sold was in this style……

  10. minoru says:

Aaaaaaaaaaargh I can’t stand Dakota Fanning!
She makes me want to kill.

  11. cowpie says:

lol, more like redneck trailer trash

  12. jenisist says:

lolz, she doing a photo shoot as Jane Volturi too

  13. pinkskittles says:

honestly id rather she wore this than try to look like a premature slut

  14. forge says:

::shrug:: Looks like a cute little kid in some loose-fitting clothes. Better that than a Spandex halter top and a pair of sprayed-on plastic hotpants. Which you’ll see on any given number of other Hollywoodian freaks her age.

  15. brittany says:

they took this picture and tweaked it to look like dakota’s character, Jane, in “new moon.”

  16. Susan says:

I really hope she doesn’t become some anorexic idiotic tabloid celebrity. It would depress me greatly. I think she’s quite talented.

And, am I the only one who, even before actually seeing the picture, just the words, “The Gap” immediately thought of “Mind the gap”

The greater portions of americans won’t understand it… But it made me laugh.

  17. TehPanda says:

anyone know what top that is she’s wearing with teh hood/cloaky design?, oh and p.s is this the girl from Push?

    • FluffyLady says:

Yes, Dakota Fanning played in push but also in a lot of other movies. Such as “Dreamer.” Hate it or love it, she played in it.

  18. FluffyLady says:

Frankly, this looks thousands of times better than what I’ve seen some kids her age wearing. It’s amazing what people wear to the grocery store thinking no one cares or watches. Some don’t care and some don’t watch, but others do.

  19. Chuck Norris is a Christian, you should be too!!!!! says:

Sigh. She looks different now. I still remember her as the little girl in Dreamer.

    • kayla says:

She cant physically resist aging any more than you can.

We should all be happy she isnt morphing into a lindsay lohan and is instead turing into an emma watson ( ie. a respectable grown up child actress).
