We’re not in 1870-1950, and we don’t have any wars. No real reason to expect progress.
Wait? You’re saying we don’t have progress since 1950? And we’re having no wars? Where do you live and on which magic machine are you typing?
If you’re referring to transistors/Mosfets, these been for quite a while, evolving since 1930~.
Therefore cellphones aren’t progress because the phone is more than a hundred years old?
A cellphone is not the result of the evolution of a phone.
The great inventions behind the eventual cellphone are
A) Transistors B)Radio (=WiFi, GSM, wtf not)
A work of legendary dudes like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison more than anything, circa 1890.
Back then, progress was made by such giant leaps, that it was considered “magic” (Flight ? Relativity ? Nuclear Power?). We’re stuck in the most peaceful time in human history, bloody modern dark ages.
We have flying cars. They’re called Airplanes. They’re just expensive.
The Harrier Jet can even park just like the Dolorian did… Vertical takeoff.
They had airplanes then, too =P
could someone out there do the honor of telling us what movie this is from? I mean, you know, if you have an idea? Thx
Michael J. Fox, the future, flying cars. How many hints do you need?
How could you not know one of the most iconic films from the 80′s? I’m only 7 years older than you and I know what film this is.
Get back under that rock.
@icefaerie95: it’s the 2nd ‘Back to the Future’ movie. Just because SOME people have heard of it who weren’t around back then, doesn’t mean that EVERYBODY has.
Isnt it anyway obivious that they know about back to the future? Or is there people, born in the 90′s or earlier who don’t know about Starwars?
Still, lol…
But there ARE flying cars
http://www.terrafugia.com/
They are still in testing, but who knows? They can be ready by 2015!
That’s really cool. But it’s more like a plane than can be driven, not a car that can fly. It’s still awesome. I wanna pilot’s license!
What about the Moller Skycar?
Can they convert DeLoreans though?!
I know I’m going from movies to video games but…
It’s after 200X and there’s still no Mega/Rockman either. =P
He is right..
Damn it’s about time we get those FLYING CARS!
marty and the doc messed up the time line so much it’s surprising the cars we do have aren’t propelled by sticking our feet through the floorboards and skedaddling. that’s where our flying cars (and cheap energy made with household garbage, btw) have gone to.
i want my hoverboard!!!
Mmmm, Michael J. Fox
We actually do have flying cars, they’re just not street legal yet. Also, they’re pretty damn ugly.
Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.
yes but 2001 has already been and we’re still no closer to jupiter
2007 has come, and I’m still not any taller.
It’s well past August 29, 1997 and we’re all still here.
I want power-laces!!
mmm, let’s sue Universal Pictures for false advertising…
I’m with you.
Flying car: bad idea. Even if we have it, it can’t possibly be a very good car, or a very good flying vehicle, since it would be full of compromises.
But if you moved all the compromises to back, it’d still make a pretty good 2 seater…
There will be a hover car on the market soon, within a year or two. It’s more expensive than a house, though.
And there are about 20 Jaws movies we need in the next 5 years…
Oh yeah! LOL! Hahahaha!
Your jacket is now dry.
Airplanes! Aero Planes! Helecopters! Jets! They’ve been invented, they’re just not sitting in everyone’s garage.
I’m looking forward to the multiple tie business suits.
Based on what popular science fiction has told us in the last 50 years, you should also complain about not having:
- ice age
- Mad Max world
- machines rising up, and either exterminating humankind or using us as a power source
- alien invaders
- nuclear holocaust
- next step on the evolutionary ladder making humans an inferior species
- Manhattan being used as a prison
- Robotic cops
- Judges with hoverbikes and executory power
- Block wars
- an utopian society in California where you get tickets for swearing and use seashells for wiping your butt
- and my all time favorite: women with three breasts.
all good things i’m angry we don’t have.
i have issues. sue me.
If you want a three breasted woman, you will need to get yourself a copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, an electronic thumb, and a towel. I still want a time traveling Delorean.
And where the heck is Buck Rogers?!?
or hoverboards…
God. Michael J. Fox was a sexy beast in that movie. I mean really!
Terrafugia, while cute, is NOT the first flying car by many decades, the first working one coming out in 1937. The Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle has a better-known version from 1949, the Taylor Aerocar. There is at least one still flying. The Museum’s car is the last one built.
And before the Taylor, there were actually a number of flying Jeeps built.
What also could of worked for this picture is that its almost 2015, and the Cubs STILL haven’t won the World Series
I know, it’s sad. T.T
People can’t drive cars safely, you really want them airborn?
Maybe it’d prevent accidents. I mean, there are no DEER in the air… And instead of swerving left or right, you could swerve up and down!
No, but there are birds which have taken down their fair share of planes. Imagine how many flying cars they would take down, considering the fact that there would most certainly be more cars flying than planes and that the cars would be flying lower, and, therefore, exposed to more birds than your average plane.
they’re called airplanes
Ahh, yes. Every morning, I take my airplane to work.
yeah… we set a deadline and it will never be reached. lol.
sadly the world is gonna end at 2012
Sadly, some people actually believe that.
yeah that’s kinda stupid.
we still don’t have flying cars?
Screw flying cars, where’s my HOVERBOARD!?!
Ok, so no flying cars, but a black president! Didn´t imagine that, ha? Spielberg?
ain’t it the truth?
Forget flying cars – I want a machine that will erase my memory of having seen this in the theater. Just zoom it from the first to the third movie.
it’s damn luck we don’t have flying cars.
most of the people have difficulties with driving even on the surface.

If you haven’t seen this one, enjoy ^^
