  1. Joonas says:

it would never run out of batter with me!

  2. schleimeimer says:

    But he appeared Pro Bono.

  3. Kiki says:

These “Bono is a douchebag” lols are getting really, really old.

  4. the captain says:

since when is promoting awareness of the great needs of africa ‘narcissism’????

  5. Dog Trainer says:

I’m with the captain and john. Bono makes a difference with his fame and wealth. Can’t say that about many celebrities.

  6. JustMe23 says:

Yeah, for f*&^sake, that’s a RED phone. You’re a real douche if you can’t support that

  7. deadinfrance says:

Bono tries to make a difference in the world-as for the person who wrote the caption can they say they have done half as much??

    • Annie Crimefighter's Subconscious has 50 points says:

      But, they got front-paged, didn’t they? ;]

    • ay dios mio says:

I don’t see how only giving away a tiny fraction of your fortune is any better than the guy giving what he can to green peace. If you have a millions coming in every year than one or two isn’t that impressive.

      • Naoyusimi says:

So, which would you rather have, no donation at all, or the donation of 1 or 2 million?

I don’t like Bill Gates much (or, at all), but I have to say I admire the Foundation he and his wife have set up, and the things they’ve done. Now, one can argue all day long about how much they still *have* at the end of the year, and how they can “afford it”—the fact remains they are doing great good. They didn’t have to.

        • Naoyusimi says:

Bono also travels and speaks and gives a LOT of his time to the causes he promotes ….isn’t that worth something? Using his celebrity to bring attention to a cause he genuinely cares about? And how do you KNOW how much he personally donates, hmm?

    • DaffySaffy says:

Parable of the widow’s mite, anyone?

  8. Xeno says:

Yeah, seriously, Bono is a speaker at the fricken Willow Leadership Summit alongside Stanford professors and CEO’s. He’s a very humanitarian celebrity, and that lol is way out of line.

    • paws4thot says:

I’m sorry, just how do “good works” mean that you are exempt from behaving decently, and not sounding and acting like a sanctimonious g!t?

      • DaffySaffy says:

Having been party to U2 moving most of its business out of Ireland to avoid paying tax on it, Bono is hardly in a position to lecture any world leader on levels of government aid given to combat poverty.

Sorry, spreeing a bit on this LOL because Bono really gets me angry these days. Sanctimonious hypocrite!

  9. Annie Crimefighter's Subconscious has 50 points says:

I wish I had a phone that ran on sarcasm.

    • lizardfriendly says:

Oh yeah. Set it near the TV during one episode of House, and you wouldn’t need to recharge it for a whole year. My kind of phone.

      • Annie Crimefighter's Subconscious has 50 points says:

“Are you sarcastic and/or a House fan? Does your phone always run out of batteries when you really need it? Well, with iPhone, there’s an app for that.”

  10. flinterdun says:

Be forewarned: The following question has come from my genuine curiosity and naivete.

What is it exactly that Bono has done for Africa?

I can’t help but picture Southpark’s “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!” *blush*

  11. Marekatt says:

Isn’t that from the RED brand? I wouldn’t call it a sellout to promote that cause…

  12. ChrisAre says:

Everyone is calling this guy arrogant or whatever, but he’s been nominated for a Noble Peace Prize 3 times! Who cares if he is (or isn’t) a tad arrogant, power does things to people! At least he’s not abusing it by taking all the money for himself, etc. You all would be acting just like him, if not worse than him, if you were doing the same thing. He’s done a lot for AIDS awareness, poverty, hunger, water, etc in Africa and, more importantly, has instilled a passion in other people to help as well. Get off his balls!

    • ay dios mio says:

Does he pay these people when they do get on his balls?

    • lb says:

Didn’t he once hold a concert in a country and set the ticket prices to be nearly twice the monthly wage of the average worker?

Hasn’t he never paid tax on his royalties for his music?

Isn’t he just full of crap and needs a good kicking?

      • DaffySaffy says:

In fairness, for a long time they didn’t need to pay tax on royalties because of the Irish tax laws, which exempted artists from paying income tax. As soon as that law was changed, U2 moved the bulk of their Irish-based business out of the country. . .

  13. jmac23 says:

this reminds me off the south park episode about the biggest crap record… bono isn’t the record holder he’s the record.

  14. Vikotnik says:

    Wanker

  15. hanna says:

    He’s not a narcissist

  16. hanna says:

I mean what’s it about with all you people?! You’re punch of idiots, you just don’t understand.
Bono has done lots of good things in his life.

  17. Pheebs says:

where can i get this phone?

  18. maddy says:

    aww cmon
    hes not narcissist!
hes a good man who does tonnes of stuff for others…
and one of the greatest musicians ever…

  19. theedgefan says:

    ok
    2 things
how do you people know what bono does in his private life?
and how is it a bad thing that bono is raising awareness of the problems in africa and actully trying to do something about it? any of you people couldnt accomplish what he has done in an entire lifetime.

  20. Lena says:

Any frontman in any rock band is narcissistic to some degree and actually I think the caption is quite funny a some way.

Bono is well aware that some people think that rock stars should keep quiet and not use their fame to try to make the world a better place. But he says he cannot just sit around doing nothing, just because some people will be annoyed. He’d rather be ridiculed than do nothing, which would be easier.

Regarding the taxes it might be controversial, but it is a bit unfair that Bono’s charity work is to his disadvantage. Why is the press (almost) only picking on Bono and not the other members of U2? If the band, and Bono in particular, weren’t known for their charity work nobody had raised an eyebrow when they decided to be tax-efficient and perfectly legally moved their royalty business to Holland.

  21. randomgurll says:

    He’s Irish, stupid.
