it’s only funny to the the people who saw it 20 years ago.
i supposed star wars is only awesome to those who saw it 32 years ago.
and thriller is only awesome to those who bought it 27 years ago?
Exactly, You should see my kids laugh at the special effect of Star Wars and Star Trek. I didn’t think it was laughable at the time.
Yeah, go back and watch some of the classics you watched as a youth. Many of them did not age as well as you would have expected.
But that said, this movie is in the awsome pile.
Heh, the animated film “Heavy Metal” didn’t age well AT ALL.
What movie is this? My apologies for being ignorant.
Ferris Bueller’s Day off.
i feel a bit of appreciation for when FX weren’t so complex. i don’t like cheesy monster movie fx but the original star wars, back to the future, bill and ted, and many more had excellent old school FXs
Again, maybe for some people, but I watched Star Wars two years ago and it’s another of my favorite movies.
I still watch Star Wars and Star Trek and this movie and I still love them!
Ferris Buellers Day Off…Greatest teen movie ever made. EVER.
THIS!!! Ugh, I STILL love that movie
I remember watching that with my aunt years ago. God that makes me feel old. Dammit I wish I had Breakfast Club.
yeah, i got it a few years ago for xmas, and i love it.
I’m only 23 and I love John Hughes movies! Although I do believe I was born into the wrong time.
hey i am only 19 and my sister is only 16 and we both love john hughes films. some of them really are timeless, Ferris bueller still applys to high school students as long as you see past some of the true time markers. it applys better than say wierd sciance or 16 candles because of less infaces on tech and less blantant racism (long duck dong). it really should be on the list of movies all high school students must watch.
Not really; I absolutely love John Hughes’ movies, especially Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I’m only 19, but I laugh my butt off every time I watch it, which is often. The same goes for the Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink. All of those are in my top 10 favorite movies. I also enjoy the Home Alone series (I was around to watch #3), Weird Science, and the National Lampoons Vacation movies. Good stuff.
agreed. : D
Oh no…..a generalization!
I’m 14, I watched the movie a year ago, and I thought it was the best movie ever! xD Still do, as a matter of fact.
im 15 and i think this movie is amazing xD
I disagree. I saw it for the first time in ’06, it’s been my favourite movie ever since.
i disagree. i wasnt even alive 20 years ago and i love Ferris Bueller its probably one of my favorite movies ever
I disagree. I’m 14 and that’s my favorite movie. I know a ton of teenagers that love old movies- my friends and I are watching Young Frankenstein right now.
your wrong so sit there in your wrongness and be wrong. Sorry, but ferris bueller’s day off is simply hilarious. My friends and me laugh so hard at it and we’re teenagers, nothing is meant to be funny to us
Hello, I wasn’t even alive twenty years ago and this movie is hilarious. It’s way better than some of the crap that comes out these days.
Because the audience nowadays can’t laugh without fart jokes or some idiot running around insulting people. I’d take John Hughes anyday over some crapassed move S B Cohen or Will Ferrell puts out.
I recently went to a John Candy marathon and I was surpised to realize that the quality of the humor was so good and had aged rather well. There were far less fark jokes than my memory told me there were in his movies.
Oh John “Uncle Buck” Candy, you are missed.
Hell yes, 5 stars. Not only Ferris Bueller, but all the movies he made. Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Vacation, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Weird Science, Home Alone, the list just keeps going and going.
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles may be the greatest comedy ever made. Oh, wait, no… Home Alone was hysterical too… I CAN’T DECIDE!
My friend Danielle and I recreated this at the Chicago Art Museum. It was epic.
THATS AMAZING.
You recreated this with only two people?!!
but, this movie wasn’t funny…..
Does it matter? The point is it’s amusing and entertaining.
It is a valid point though, this movie wasn’t particularly funny (there were some funny parts). No this movie was something more than funny.
This movie was Fun; a more difficult and rare thing than funny. A type of movie that we really don’t see any more.
agreed! I love how you put it!
This movie was made the year I was born, became one of my favorite movies when I was 12, and I still love it!
ah that’s a BRILLIANT way of explaining it. It WAS fun.
some of my teenage son’s favorite moves are John Hughes. RIP
The very concept of this movie was repugnant unless you were a budding criminal type.
You must be a Republican.
You must be an idiot.
You misspelled “Democrat” – After all, the point of the movie is being your own individual, not being controlled by others, and individual thought is anathema to the liberal mindset.
Why is it liberals think that Republicans (or conservatives in general) want to control everyone, when liberals/democrats/socialists want everyone to conform EXACTLY to their views?
Nazis were National SOCIALISTS, after all…
How is it that no matter what the subject, these comment threads ALWAYS turn into a debate on American politics??
Seriously. How does reminiscing about John Hughes movies turn into arguing about politics?
Remember kids, an argument on the internet is the same as the special olympics. Even if you win your still retarded.
not always. some times its some other type of flamewar (yes american politics is a flamewar). but ya it is almost like godwins law. no matter what the OP the discussion will always degrade to a flamewar.
yeah. cause all budding criminals skip school for a day (and of course, everyone who skips school for a day is, in fact, a budding criminal)!
My son died laughing at a very young Charlie Sheen and his clothes!
Glad I’m not the only one who did that when I watched it. I was like “Hey, Spin City!”
hahahaha kids these days. Try watching Apocalypse Now and laughing at a very young _Martin_ Sheen – his father!
Well, since back then I was a budding criminal type, I loved this movie, and every other work of art our dearly departed master created.
Since I am now a master criminal type, it’s time for me to hunt down Scmoe’s address and steal her/his/their/its car, drive around all day, and then put it back.
Of course, like I said, I’m a master, so I CAN reduce the mileage.
That won’t help get rid of the stains I’ll be leaving behind though…
XD
Win.
Stains? Leave a warm gummy bear on the dash of his car!
Never found it funny, only lame.
Probably because you weren’t born back in….Theday
smooooth
I liked it
Alot
Even now
This movie really has stood the test of time. I mean, when one of my professors drones “Anyone? Anyone?” everybody in the room knows exactly what he’s doing, and it never fails to conjure a smirk or two. Anytime I hear “Go Down, Moses” or see Alan Ruck on TV somewhere, I automatically start singing “When Cameron was in Egypt’s land…” Actually, I just quoted this movie yesterday. Somebody said “I don’t trust him farther than I can throw him.” I responded, “Well, with your back, Ed, you shouldn’t be throwing anyone!” God, this is such a good movie.
win!
Please tell me you said it while imitating that woman’s voice.
Of COURSE!!!! I live in Wisconsin… it comes somewhat easy to me. haha lol
*deep voice* Let my Cameron goooo AUGH I gotta get this DVD (I have it on VHS but no longer have a VCR *sigh* so sad)
Me too! Except I still have a VCR…which is also sad, I guess. My dad used to make soccer highlight tapes for his soccer team, but they all said they couldn’t watch them because they weren’t on DVD!
Huh. Wow, I guess I just have that line so ingrained in my head that I hear “back” every time I watch it. haha You’re right, though, and I apologize.
That’s so weird, I totally thought it was “back”. Oh well, I’m still a ‘righteous dude’.
I find myself quoting frequently, too. Seriously, best movie ever.
:D:D
This movie is the most amazing thing to be pulled out of anyone’s ass. EVER.
I’m still laughing at the shoulder pads.
Quite a good movie. One of the first to have that bit of dialogue after the credits.
Go home….go on now….
There is 1 real problem with the films John Hughes made.
He didn’t make enough.
My guess is in years to come, more and more people will look back and see how well his work has stood the test of time.
ru kidding me? He died? Where was I? When did this happen!?
couple days ago. He had a heart attack at 59. =\ I was heartbroken
My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.
Thanks Maddie…I needed that laugh!
haha you’re welcome
I thought it was a dreadfully boring movie at the time. I definitely won’t rewatch it.
The Breakfast Clubs is as perfect today
as it was in “the day”…
He led a pretty full life, full of neat stuff,
and didn’t spend a few weeks going “beep”.
Not bad.
RIP-
I’m sorry for the family that is missing what
has to have been a great guy!
I like the way you put it.
And everybody in this picture looks so mad because their movie isn’t funny.
I freakin’ hate Ferris Bueller.
let me guess… your real name is Jeannie, but you would prefer to be called ‘Shauna’? Would you like a gummy bear? They’re warm and squishy, they’ve been in my pocket all day… *SNIFFLE*
hell yeah that is the god damn truth
i remember one time last year my dad was watching it… this movie is a freakin classic lol its good
Ferris Buhler’s Day off is so hilarious
so why is cameron wearing a redwings jersey if they’re chicago folks? I never noticed that before. Also, I saw on TV that cameron’s house in the movie is for sale right now. the glass house with the car garage… awesome.
Yup. I only live an hour away from it, so when we heard it was up for sale, we went and saw it. It’s only going for a cool 2.3 million.
no way! was it totally beautiful?
You can’t see all that much from the road. Basically all we saw was where the Ferrari came out the back, and the driveway where Cameron had his little spazoid moment (“He’ll keep calling me till I come over. He’ll make me feel guilty… This is ridiculous–Ok, I’ll go I’ll go I’ll go I’ll go… wa–I’ll go.”). And it didn’t really look like a house that would be worth quite THAT much, but pictures of the inside were freaking fantastic.
Lol, okay, I just have to share this story: I’m a dog trainer and a few months ago these people signed their dog up for one of my classes. Well, I noticed on the sign up sheet that the dog’s name was Ferris and thought, ‘Well, hey, these people should be cool’ and continued on doing what I was doing, never bothering to check the last name of the owners (I mean, why would I?). First day of class roles around and everyone is introducing themselves – it gets to Ferris’ owners and the wife is like, ‘Hi, we’re ____ and ____ Buehler, and this is our dog Ferris.’ I about *died* from trying to stifle my giggling. I know, their name isn’t spelled exactly like the movie, but that was just too awesome for words.
And the dog *was* a righteous dude.
That is AWESOME! You know they’re a fan of the movie. I’d totally do that if I had a cool last name.
i wasnt even born when this movie came out and i saw a few weeks ago and i absolutely love it
THIS is my favourite movie evar!
Is very nice.
So freakin true!
LMFAO its soo true to!
i lovee this moviee soo much <3
Loooove this movie!. Though I think this is the only movie where Alan Ruck (Cameron) had as big of a role :/ There should be more!
love this movie! if theres movies i will never get sick of, its mean girls, titanic, and….Muriels Wedding!!!!! omg!!
26 years ago… not 20…
24 years ago… not 26…
