“Crocodile” Dundee is a 1986 Australian comedy film set in the Australian Outback and in New York City. It stars Paul Hogan as the weathered Mick Dundee and Linda Kozlowski as Sue Charlton.

Inspired by the true life exploits of Rodney Ansell, the film was made on a budget of under $10 million as a deliberate attempt to make a commercial Australian film that would appeal to a mainstream American audience, but proved to be a worldwide phenomenon. Released on 30 April 1986 in Australia, and on 26 September 1986 in the United States, it was the second highest grossing film in the USA in that year and went on to become the number one film worldwide at the box office.

There are two versions of the film: The Australian version, and the American/international version, with much of the Australian slang replaced with more commonly understood terms, and also being slightly shorter, lacking several scenes. The international version also changes the title to “Crocodile” Dundee, adding the quotation marks.

The film was followed by two sequels: 1988′s Crocodile Dundee II and 2001′s Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles.

Poor Murphy. I’d be scared, too!

But I don’t want to crash that often!!!!!11

    • Aahz says:

Assuming it even runs at all… Even “Safe” Mode has problems…

      • Scythelord says:

Meh vista is perfectly stable on a decent computer. That said it doesn’t matter. He’d get the free upgrade to Windows 7 and no one would have anything to poke fun at even if the users caused the problems.

  4. sopranomom says:

Wow… poor guy. Now every time he tries to fire his gun, he’s gonna have to re-boot and try to get out of safe mode.

  5. Vista? I wouldn’t buy that for a dollar! I’d rather have a 6000 SUX.

  6. Boone says:

technically, this is an animatron made to look like peter weller, not really him at all…

  7. kosher ham says:

I think Vista should be upgraded to Robocop!

  8. Looks he is dying with that custom.

  9. ethana2 says:

You can tell by looking at him he’s more the Gentoo type.

  10. AtomicPunk says:

if they were updating him with MAC OSX then he’d be really happy

  11. Red says:

they can’t install Vista on Robocop! they need to upgrade his RAM first ..and his processor…etc

  12. Quint says:

Try Vista with Firefox.. I have absolutely no problems whatsoever. None. Nada. Zip. It’s great.

  13. cweenmj says:

Conga Ratz on deh frunt paig, Aahz!!

  14. Please don’t do it… give him another chance xD

  15. Leesee says:

That’s not Peter Weller. That’s Robert Burke from the third movie.

  16. Supercollider73 says:

The best thing about Vista is that its not Win95. Vista crashes more often than the Wright brothers did.

  17. If I remember well, RobocopOS was actually based on MS-DOS. Hire (or download) the movie, and pause when you see Robocop booting up for the first time. You’ll see familiar things like a config.sys scrolling by.

How’s that for a very geeky and obscure movie fact? :-)

  18. paws4thot says:

    Concerned cyborg is concerned.

  19. Woot says:

robocop needs another gig of ram for that upgrade

  20. Meowth says:

Two for one! Must be Ordinal Special Day or something.

  21. God says:

    I…. I think I love you.

  22. Scythelord says:

You don’t know who he is? Robocop is a must see for anyone alive today and should be mandatory.

Anyway other than that I fully agree. Vista is faster in every way vs XP, more secure, easier to use, and more stable. Vista got the short end of the stick when people blamed it for problems that were caused solely by hardware that was not manufactured for 4 gigs of ram or more causing problems. Creative was a big force in blaming MS for breaking things with the introduction of vista, when in actuality the biggest source of problems with creative’s sound cards in vista were pure hardware incompatibility with 4 gigs or more ram. X-Fi Titanium cards are the redesigned cards that no longer have that incompatibility.

  23. Ωrpheus says:

Wish i could agree, but i’ve used vista on several computers which have been used for no more than what a computer is generally expected to use, with fairly decent hardware, and it’s been the most painful thing i’ve ever seen. These are different occasions that i’ve observed:

1: I tried opening firefox – nothing happened. After waiting over a minute i got bored and decided to try and open up google chrome (installed as a backup)… still nothing.

After this i got bored and eventually decided to go and check if IE8 would work. I clicked on the start-bar and a message came up saying “Windows explorer has suffered a terminal error and must be restarted” (OWTTE) so i clicked the “restart” button on the dialogue.

Again… no result. Tried clicking the start bar to see if it had done anything, or sorted itself out. Same error message.

Turned off manually. Restarted it (slowly) and successfully (but slowly) opened firefox.

2: Was running an installer which was written in java. I didn’t expect anything to go wrong even on vista, as java is known to be one of the most stable and dynamic platforms to program on. The installer crashed on 3 occasions.

3: Incredibly slow startup, several error messages, and took ~3 minutes to launch iTunes.

Now i understand that vista works well with the expensive top versions (a-la 64-bit ultimate) on higher end hardware but the base versions have so many issues on even average hardware that it’s scarcely worth the CD it’s burt on to.

  24. PhoenixM says:

If you want to use Vista, you’d better be prepared to throw out half of any software you have from pre-2005. Even if you’re using older OS compatibility modes, and even if you run as administrator, it’s a crap shoot as to whether or not you can get your software to function properly.

  25. Ωrpheus says:

    *burnt

& a disclaimer that all of these were on different machines.

  26. Talus Worldsong says:

WTF god is talking about whores (see above post)
