  1. Derek58 says:

Damn straight. Before Iron Man i barely knew who this guy was. After, I will watch any movie he’s in.

  2. Steve says:

    I’ll drink to that!

  3. Breesus says:

True and I love him…but not really funny. I want to laugh!!

  4. Green Is Good says:

Bravo, I say. An excellent affirmation.

  5. forge says:

Well, it sure helps if you’re practically the God of Acting. This dude is awesome all the dang way through.

  6. Schmoe says:

“be drunken continually, that is the only question.
drunken with wine or with poetry or with virtue as you will
    but be always drunken”-Baudelaire

“who would see life as it is if he could help it?”-O’Neill (“Long Days Journey Into Night”)

  7. HellHathNoFury says:

That’s commendable, for anyone, especially an actor who has access to al things horrible at no cost. I never thought he was good-looking until just now.

    • Jessi says:

How, exactly, did he have access ‘at no cost’? The drugs killed his career (nobody would hire him, it cost way too much to insure him), got him arrested and landed him in prison and did god else knows what to his relationships with his friends and family.

      • liloaktree says:

Methinks Jessi confuses cost with consequences.

        • HellHathNoFury says:

          methinks so, too

        • Jessi says:

And he got these drugs for free did he? ‘Cause I’m fairly certain that he got arrested once or twice for buying drugs.

By the way, the word cost can mean more than just money. People pay for things in different ways. These could also be referred to as ‘consequences’.

For example, the sentence “The cost of his actions was the loss of his career and his family” means the exact same thing as “The consequences of his actions were the loss of his career and family”.

Words that are different, but mean the same thing – what an amazing thing!

          • SarahJ says:

Ummm.. just because a word can have two different meanings doesn’t mean you can interchange the meanings at your own leisure just so you can change the meaning of what someone is trying to say to you.

She said cost obviously meaning monetary value, you can go “oops don’t want that meaning, I’m going to change it in my own brain”

            • Jessi says:

How was it obvious in any way that she was talking about monetary value?

And, even if she was, I again point out that he did indeed pay for his drugs. So she would still be wrong.

  8. Nicolletta says:

    RDJ FTW!!!

    • KC says:

Amen. Totally. He was such an awesome actor beforehand. Glad to see he was able to clean himself up and get back on track. It’s a shame River Phoenix couldn’t do the same. Drug addiction is a very scary thing. Hey Lindsey! Look at Downey! That’s how it’s done!

  9. quoi says:

RDJ! He inspires so much glee.

  10. picgirl7 says:

RDJ is pure awsome. I have a lot of respect for him b/c of getting sober. It’s inspiring to see someone turn their life back around.

  11. disque dur says:

As I have nothing nice to say……. I would normally say it Diplomatically if I can . Robert Downey its a true line that “it’s never too late … to get sober”..
I really like your movies and mostly Iron Man 2 and The Soloist…

    • Barlowe says:

Funny that you mostly love Iron Man 2 considering that the very earliest release date of said movie is the 29th of April ;)

  12. lolwannabeee says:

    He’s so beautiful! *melts*

  13. ceallaig says:

Got his life and career back on track, we didn’t lose that wonderfully awesome talent (I second seeing Chaplin, totally amazing performance), he learned from all the mistakes he made, is happily married and goofily in love with his beautiful wife … life is good again. And I can’t wait for Sherlock Holmes!!

  14. DixieDarlin says:

    He’s schmexy…. I want him for Christmas.

  15. peepers says:

    yeah right, he’s sober. lawl.

  16. Chunky says:

He was also really great in A Scanner Darkly. That was produced around the time when he was being demonized by the media. A very good movie that any RDJ must see.

  17. elhombresinnombre says:

Saw him for the first time in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, been a fan ever since

  18. Erin says:

YUMMY!! My lust for this man goes back pre Less Than Zero. Like fine wine…you know the rest.
    Shew…cold shower needed!!
    I heart RDJ (=

  19. Katie says:

    Bravo, Robert, well done

  20. Dee Dee says:

He’s an amazing and talented actor who almost threw it all away. Glad that he realized he had hit bottom when he was found passed out by a dumpster in an Los Angeles alleyway w/ with black-tar crack rolled in tin foil (this is like smoking Comet!) and a knife tucked into his pants. Man, if this isn’t bottom I don’t know that is!

  21. Grandevil says:

He turned his life around and I respect him for that.

  22. shaungrl says:

Way to go. I wish you continued sobriety.

    Sincerely,
    shaungrl
    26 yrs sober

  23. Not to worry…he’ll screw it up.

  24. teresaf says:

LOVE him!! “Iron Man” was so much fun to watch & he is simply amazing in “Chaplin”.

  25. DaffySaffy says:

Totally agree with the FTWs on this caption. Did anyone see him in the film of Richard III with Ian McKellen, back in the mid-90s? He played the queen’s brother, and basically just played himself (at the time) – lounging around saying his lines with a ciggie in the mouth and a glass of whiskey in his hand – he was fantastic!

  26. susan says:

RDJ has always been gorgeous. i am so glad he got his life back on track.

  27. Basara549 says:

The really wild thing is that, in terms of drug addiction & sobriety, Tony Stark (the character that he plays in Iron Man) went through THE SAME ISSUES in the 80s & 90s….

Talk about life imitating art (or maybe vice-versa). He not only looks the part of Tony Stark, he LIVED it at the same time as the character had to deal with it in the comics.

  28. coledozer says:

i’m actually trying to get sober. so this is pretty good motivation. thanks.

    • DLDaugherty45 says:

Good for you coledozer! I’m proud of RDJ – and proud of you too. You never know from day to day whose life you might affect. I didn’t know when I captioned this picture that it could be motivational to someone out there going through a rough time. God Bless You, and I’ll keep you in my prayers.

  29. Chinamerican says:

Same caption could be used for Craig Ferguson. Regardless, they both rock.

  30. 12345678910 says:

RDJ = win. That is all.

  31. 10987654321 says:

    He’s so yummy.

  32. May Lee says:

His eyes are so gorgeous, he’s so hot! *sighs*

  33. Caboose says:

*sigh* it’s never too late – to get divorced and hook up with me!!! <3

  34. robert downey is a nice guy.

  35. The costs of these actions has been the loss of his career and his family ;means exactly the same . The consequences of his actions were the loss of his career and family.
