    oh, btw, FIRST!

  2. Tytoon says:

Mental retardation is a generalized disorder, characterized by sub average cognitive functioning and deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors with onset before the age of 18. Once focused almost entirely on cognition, the definition now includes both a component relating to mental functioning and one relating to individuals’ functional skills in their environment.

The term “mental retardation” is a diagnostic term designed to capture and standardize a group of disconnected categories of mental functioning such as “idiot”, “imbecile”, and “moron” derived from early IQ tests, which acquired pejorative connotations in popular discourse over time. The term “mental retardation” has itself now acquired some pejorative and shameful connotations over the last few decades due to the use of “retarded” as an insult. This may in turn have contributed to its replacement with expressions such as “mentally challenged” or “intellectual disability”. While “developmental disability” may be considered to subsume other disorders (see below), “developmental disability” or “developmental delay” (for people under age 18), are generally considered more acceptable terms than “mental retardation” among members of the disability community.

  3. He made cross-dressing fun and sweet!

  4. Jiks says:

    Caster – the early years

  5. MsMsBurning says:

    RIP Larry Gelbart

  6. hee hee says:

KLINGER!!! WHAT FUN~always a ‘killer’! My fave was when he was trying to fly out of camp on a hang glider in his bathrobe and pink fuzzy slippers! He kept being mistaken for a big bird! LOL!! I met Jamie Farr at a benefit for a hospital that had a M*A*S*H* theme! Jamie was awesome fun!

    • the.brightest.blonde says:

The hang glider was always the best. I was crushed when Klinger got rid of the dresses.

      • hee hee says:

Well, if I remember correctly his dresses were ravaged by a bunch of …
“working” girls and a madam in ‘trade’ for a building during one of the camp demonstrations of the meaning of the “M”. It was sad and unfortunate, but it did force him to become more ‘creative’ with his attempts to get to Toledo…. the rubber ‘reducing’ suit comes to mind… and eating a Jeep was pretty awesome.

  7. Pingo T Best says:

Well it’s about time we got some M*A*S*H stuff on here!

  8. Taima says:

    R*I*P Larry Gelbart

  9. Change your shirt, you are not a girl !!

  10. akku aa says:

Well, As you said that real men wear pink but I am wondering that, I havn’t seen the real men wearing the long earings on both his ears….. Now, That’s something weird…..

  11. ShadowQuest says:

“Half of family pregnant, other half dead.”

Was there anything he *didn’t* try to get a Section 8?

I remember the episode where he found out that if you’re overweight the Army will kick you out, so decided to try gaining weight. Wasn’t there something with sitting up on a pole for a world record?

They just don’t make shows like this any more. Pity.

  12. i_@m_#1 says:

what a lovely shade on him ;)

  13. Alysson says:

the first time I saw klinger I was so offended…then I realized he was just crazy…and then I laughed :)

  14. Marilyn says:

Klinger was supposed to have a small, one time part, where he is on guard duty and jumps out wearing a dress and says “Who goes there?”

People loved him so much they wrote him into the script.

  15. California Dave says:

Potter: “I know you, Klinger – every time you tell a lie, your nose gets smaller!”

  16. lavabug says:

LOLROFLMAO! XD Klinger! LOL!!My favorite M.A.S.H. character! I swear, this guy was the only reason M.A.S.H. was a popular show! well…. him and Radar, and Hawkeye, and…. Aw heck they all made it funneh!
    XD

    8) <—— Radar

    LOL

  17. Steve says:

Ah Klinger. Jamie Farr made him so loveable and human, despite the risk the character could become a one-shot joke. Instead he’s remembered fondly.

  18. cyber says:

Ahh… Kilnger… One of the many great characters on that great show. (If you liked M*A*S*H I also highly recommend Hogan’s Heroes–another great series.)

And I’m with everyone else wondering why there aren’t shows like this anymore…

  19. Hombretones Lawrence says:

American television’s most revered cross-dressing Arab. FTW.

  20. hee hee says:

    to be specific: Lebanese!

  21. Caleb says:

I was just WAITING for a M*A*S*H* reference!

  22. he was a classic character in a greatly overrated tv show.

  23. georgesmiley says:

Boy, to play a man who “dresses …. in dresses” and still come across completely straight and masculine took some serious acting. Well, the nose and body hair did help too. I’ll always love that scene when radar tries to hook up with nurse hanging her clothes, just to have her turn around and look into klinger’s face…

  24. Nightshift says:

Jamie Farr actually was from Toledo Ohio just like Klinger. And there really was a ‘Packo’s Hotdogs’ shop there. I think I remember reading about it finally shutting down not to long ago too. One of my fave’s was when Potter and Wichester get the mumps and Klinger goes nuts trying not to get them…”If you get them as a kid, you don’t get them as an adult. But if you get them as an adult you don’t get kids. Die you littlte homewreckers!” Then he starts spraying disinfectant everywhere. Although my favorite all time line from the show, maybe on TV period was one from Radar when Potter first joins the cast, “By command of the commanding officer. All officers report to the comanding officer’s office, sirs.” Cracks me up everytime!
