This isn’t as bad as the infamous dead babies photo with the Beatles. It was for an album to called ‘Casualties’ but they wisely changed it.

    • Ivan The Floydist says:

WRONG! It was the Yesterday And Today album cover, better known as “The Butcher Cover”. And they weren’t babies, they were dolls.

      • Ivan The Floydist says:

BTW, Casualties was a bootleg (illegal) album put out in 1980. Here are some interesting facts about that “album”:

Titled Casualties, this record was first issued as a picture disc and like its predecessor, also sported a fictitious Capitol Records catalog number (SEAX 11950). The front of the record featured the full, uncropped “Butcher Cover” photo Randall Davis had wanted to use as the Rarities cover. On the back were the track listings with detailed notes about each song, plus rare black-and-white photos of the Beatles, supposedly from Capitol Records’ files.

Two of the tracks on this album are “outfakes” – The included “long version” of I’ll Cry Instead is a fake. The original mono “long” mix was composed of two different sections. On the Casualties cut, the first verse of the stereo version has just been spliced into the middle to make it appear like the long version. On Her Majesty, apparently the “final chord” was taken from a bootleg recording and added on. Since the final chord does not appear with Her Majesty on the existing master tape, the version on Casualties is definitely bogus. (HM was spliced out of the middle of the Get Back album, where it lost the chord. With a 20 second leader, it was added onto the tail end of Abbey Road.).

  2. DaManRando says:

    too true

  3. Blargit says:

    True talent my ass!!!!

    • Ivan The Floydist says:

Oh, let me guess…a Jonas Brothers fan. Fu(kwit.

    • ay dios mio says:

They had talent for sure. It was the idea that they somehow invented rock and roll that bothers me. They weren’t new. They were just the first one’s to come to the U.S.

      • the-pigeon-hunter says:

they didnt invent rock’n'roll and nobody really claims that they did – seing as their inspiration was the american rock’n'roll heroes of the 50ies.

people say that they invented pop. i dont know if that’s true but they sure as hell had talent!

    • If you don’t think the Beatles have talent, then you quite clearly are either a complete fvcktard, or are dead. Yes, I’m being serious.

      • DaffySaffy says:

Budge up, TAR, make some room on that battleline for me!

Hope I’m still around in 40 years time to see if any of the big hitters from this era are still being talked about – because I’ll stake my pension on it that the Beatles will still be big!

  4. parksj1 says:

    So does nontalent unfortunately.

  5. PitaBread says:

One of these is not like the others…

  6. Name Required says:

To be perfectly honest, I don’t like the Beatles.

    • Ivan The Floydist says:

Good for you. Now go away.

    • Anne Onymous says:

Can’t stand them either. Nor Elvis.

      • Dukie says:

What exactly is wrong with you?

      • Then you don’t like music. That’s so sad.

        • Gustav says:

Bull. The Beatles were overrated. They were the boy band of the ’60s. Sure they had some talent, moreso than modern boybands, but please, with the exception of George, their musical ability was just on par with plenty of their contemporaries.

          • Aeriael says:

I want to have your babies. ive been saying the same thing for ages and all i get in return is “shut up! theyre the reason for what you have now! Worship them”. I getting a shirt specially made this christmas that says f*ck the beatles.

          • paws4thot says:

Well, I’ll give you that, but that’s a reflection of just how much better the chart music scene was in the 1960s than it is now, rather than anything that makes the Beetles bad.

          • mee says:

are you trying to tell us that Paul and John were not good songwriters?? They all had beautiful voices and a load of talent when it came to their instruments (except Ringo, sorry, its true)

          • Boomer says:

Here’s a challenge for those who think the Beatles are overrated: spend three weeks listening to nothing – absolutely NOTHING — except the Billboard Top 40 of 1961-1962 (and no fair throwing in the occasional golden oldie like Carl Perkins or Jerry Lee Lewis). Then watch a couple of really good documentaries on the Cuban Missile crisis and the assasination of JFK. Then watch the Beatles’ appearances on the Ed Sullivan show. If you don’t understand then why they caused such a sensation, you never will.

If you go through the Beatles’ catalogue in chronological order, you will find that they were groundbreakers in most of the directions R&R took during the 60′s. Everyone, including the Stones, imitated them. Almost all rock bands today are still imitating them because they were so innovative. The reason they sound old hat now is because we’ve been listening to their imitators for 40 years.

    • No1askedme says:

LOL! Your avatar fits your comment so well!

    • brak says:

@name and Anne-and pray tell…and just who do you prefer? I’m curious.

    • the-pigeon-hunter says:

i cant see a problem with someone not liking the beatles. fair enough. i dont like elvis that much. or REM. or U2.

it’s really up to each individual what music they are into.

  7. deadinfrance says:

    PAUL! I love you!!!!!

  8. Agent00 says:

    Where’s the LOL?

    • the-pigeon-hunter says:

i don t get this whole springs thing. what were they getting at?

why are they posing with springs?!

      • Boomer says:

This was one of four pics on the cover of “Beatles ’65.” Each pic represented a seaon of the year. Which season do you suppose is represented by springs, and a twig?

  9. Random says:

    the beatles suck

  10. Deva says:

    The Beatles are amazing :D

  11. Chass says:

Why does John get a twig, and the rest have spring thingies?

  12. rinanolol says:

    they look so uninterested
and to those who don’t like the beatles,
if it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t watch, listen, or do what you are doing today, they influenced more than you know.

  13. SKW says:

    Everyone loves a Slinkie!

    … Except John.

  14. grelbr says:

Three springs and a twig. John was a twig hugger.

    Ringo’s springo is the biggest.

  15. Name Required says:

I’m sorry, I meant I don’t like the Beatles music. I have nothing against the Beatles. And I know the Beatles influenced a lot. I appreciate that. I just don’t really like their music. And brak, I know that “I’m curious” means “anything you post I’m going to make fun of”. So no.

    • sueb262 says:

what’s _really_ curious is the idea that your personal music tastes would be of the slightest interest to a reader of the comment thread on a picture of the musicians whose music you don’t like.

      • Aeriael says:

So now we cant post our opinions unless theyre positive and for whatever theyre being posted on? No, that doesnt violate freedom of speech at all.

  16. Aaron Hong says:

“John Lennon once said ‘Im a musician; you give me a twig of asparagus, and I’ll try to make music out of it.’ So I look at you and I ask myself ‘what could I use you for?’ .”

  17. Julia says:

    I LOVE YOU GEORGE!
but yes. the picture is craptastic…

  18. Soooooo…what exactly is going on here?

  19. Breenlolz says:

I’m not sure Amazing Rando. I think these are the Jonas Brothers?

  20. fale says:

it’s not talent, it’s genius. there’s adifference. like batman’s genius vs. superman’s talent.

  21. Mr. Creazil says:

Half of them are dead, so this may have been a poor choice of words.

  22. lb says:

I admit the springs are looking good, but to call them talented seems a tad over the top.

  23. rUkiddingMe says:

    talent? where? those springs?

  24. gamayun says:

True talent: no instruments except three slinkys and a piece of asparagus, yet they still managed to record enough music for trolls to fight over for 59 comments…

  25. Moi. says:

    That’s wheat, not asparagus.

  26. macbeattie says:

what I don’t understand is, why non beatles fans decide to trash a column of uplifting fan comments. People can be fans of whatever they want but please don’t ruin it for everyone else. It makes being a fan of someting rather difficult.

  27. Ally says:

    ahaha that’s kinda hilarious xD

  28. Hi. says:

In Ringo’s defense: Steve Gorman of The Black Crowes, Dave Grohl of Nirvana, Orri Páll Dýrason of Sigur Rós,[54][55][56] Max Weinberg of the E Street Band, Danny Carey of Tool, Liberty DeVitto of Billy Joel’s band, Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden, Eric Carr of Kiss, Phil Rudd of AC/DC, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Pedro Andreu of Heroes del Silencio and others. This is a list of drummers that list Ringo as an influence.
