Sorry!! Alexander far from the Historical truth??? I’ve never watched the film but it is Historical fact that Alexander was gay (and was accompanied on his conquests by his “friend”.) Alexander also had a unit filled with gays (in pairs – each one the lover of the other. The Celts I believe had a similar system as well)

I study history at one of the world’s best universities, and the first thing our professor tought us was that although there are unvalid sources we have ways to eliminate untruthful texts and writers.

Though a certain philosophers school (the skeptics) teaches that you can’t be sure about anything. If you see an apple you can by all meanings try to convince everybody that it’s an orange, but that just doesn’t make any sense.

Seems to me that you have some sort of homophobia for not accepting the facts.

You should all people know that in every time of world’s history, gay and homosexual stuff existed… sometimes were well hidden,some other times things were more free… the only reason that everyone seems to “know” that ancient greeks were a bunch of gays is because there is no reliable historical source for the way they were having fun to their “symposia”(=when eating together)… the isolation of the women reinforced the belief that greek were homos…but they DIDNT… of course it was slightly usual phenomeno…but I cannot accept the statements from every random-ignorant- guy who watched a commercial movie (Alexander,Troy,300)-which are far away from the historical truth- and calling greeks as fuggots…

Ancient writers lying would only work if they were trying to prove themselves as a great nation (as was done throughout history by the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans and nearly every nation before and since). However I don’t think people such as Plato, Soakrates, Aristotle, and Diogenes (and his Barrel) would really say “Hey we’re the Greek, we’re tough, we’re mighty and we’re a nation of Shirt lifters. Come invade us and we’ll f**k you over (both ways ducky!!)” See it only works if you’re happen to want to shout about your achievements.

Sorry!! It’s no myth, it’s completely true. Older men usually “mentored” younger boys (of course a certain amount of sex came along with that in some cases.) But the biggest proof about it was that the Greeks (or rather the Macedonians, who were Greek in origin, being originally a Greek Colony) had an large unit in it comprising of male lovers who fought in pairs each lover protecting the other. Alexander had a unit like this when he defeated the Persians. (I believe they were called the Companions or something similar. I’ll have to look it up)

Proofs only exist in mathematics. Sure, you can provide evidence to support your conjecture, but you cannot provide absolute proof. How do you know the people “writing the records” weren’t lying? You don’t, and you’ll never be able to be 100% sure, unless you’re The Doctor. Yes, they had sex with women. And in groups. AND very much so, with other men. The point of this site isn’t to say things that are 100% accurate all the time, that’s what makes it satire.

It is widely known that it was part of Greek culture for men to have sex with other men (and in many cases, younger men, like apprentices). This is just the stuff they really don’t want to teach you until college.

I think you have a distorted understanding of human sexuality.

Noone is saying the Spartans were what we’d identify as gay today i.e. being only or primarily attracted to the same sex.

But Spartan males did have sex with other (younger) Spartan males. i.e. pederasty. It was an intrinsic part of their warrior culture.

You’re right, normaly masculine culture doesn’t imply any kind of sexuality one way or another.

However, hyper masculine and sex segregating cultures are pederastic (and even pedophile) cultures. We see this in the Islamic world today.
