if she’s holding onto the pole that is ATTATCHED to the MOVING ice cream cart in order to NOT FALL OFF .. that.. doesn’t make sense. why didn’t they just cut out the whole ice cream cart i mean she’s not singing about it and it’s not a neccessity. it’s just another thing used to lure kids into her venus fly trap.

I concur. I’m 18 and have absolutely NO problem finding t-shirts (for all of you unable to find clothes to cover your children, t-shirts are those things that go to the neck, have sleeves that end just above the elbow, and go down to where the pants/shorts/skirts begin. sometimes past that.) and jeans that do not show stuff. I also manage to find skirts and shorts that don’t show my butt. It’s not hard!

If it’s so innocent, how is it so many people watching instantly got “pole dancing”? If it’s THAT questionable, it should not be in a “children’s” award show.

Also, if you watch the video *shudder shudder shudder* you’ll hear MANY a gasp at one point when Ms. Cyrus leans down with the pole between her knees, then stands back up. The children watching realize something’s fishy [ha...] so how is it adults can say it’s innocent?

I wouldn’t say she was straight-out pole dancing, but she certainly got the point across. I looked the clip up on YouTube and, really, at one point she did look a lot like somebody pole-dancing. I don’t exactly ENJOY her music, or clothes for that matter, but It’s not torture. She did have a way too tight shirt on, and way too short shorts.

She (nor is Disney) isn’t exactly family-friendly. Sure, Disney’s classic movies such as Nemo and Bambi are enjoyable, but nowadays they just don’t set a good example.

It’s strange to me that more people aren’t making comments about how her father pretty much sold his daughter to Disney. I think if there is anyone people should be hating on it’s him. He turned her into what she is. He is responsible for it persisting. He holds the reins of her career.

I don’t really feel bad for her, she’s definitely on the right track to be the next Lindsay Lohan trainwreck (and she’ll do that all on her own), I’m just sayin’… it’s weird that no one brings up the real root of this.

You automatically lost all credibility (that was left) there. Cyrus is the same as any other pointless, cookie-cutter, popstar bimbo that the music industry spews out weekly. Musicians like Freddie Mercury had talent; Miley Cyrus has the skill of a half-chewed crayon in comparison.

Also, the fact that you think it’s dandy for all girls to dress like prostitutes on a daily basis speaks volumes. Standards — who needs ‘em, right?

Just FYI, I am 19, and a large proportion of my friends are as well, and none of us dressed like that throughout highschool. Even to other teens that crap is disgusting. Girls should have more self-respect than that, and brains enough to think for themselves instead of following a fad.

Dressed like every other girl out there in the world? Where do you shop for your daughters clothes, in club stores? I’m 21 and 5’2″. I have absolutely no problem finding clothes that aren’t revealing that fit me. It may not have been straight up pole dancing, but it was an obvious reference.
And yes, she dresses like a slut, and for those of you who say that “she’s just dressing like other teenage girls, so it’s perfectly fine” are probably either a parent of a slutty teenage girl trying to absolve themselves from any responsibility in how their daughter dresses [I bet you fall for the "but everybody else is doing it/has it" trick to] or one of said slutty teenage girls. Not all teenagers dress like cheap whores, and not all stores sell those clothes. So stop trying to excuse her inappropriate clothing by referencing false statements.

And yes, Miley has no talent, but neither does Demi Levato, the Jonas Brothers, or any of the “Disney Channel Stars” that has been forced upon the masses as “good music”. She cannot sing, cannot act, and cannot dance.

And before you go and say that “I’m just jealous” or “I wouldn’t know talent if I fell on my head”, go and take another listen to her “music”. Can you even hear her real voice? No? I didn’t think so.
If you want to hear talent, go to a show [or play if that's your thing] where they aren’t playing pre-recorded music and the vocalist is just lipsynching. Hear some live music. Not crap put through a synthesizer

You misunderstand me. It is her fault that she’s skank-o-matic (although, I think bad parenting is partly to blame). It’s not her fault that Disney is the skank-o-matic channel. Disney is the one who’s marketing her to children, and parents are the ones letting their kids watch this crap/buying the merchandise. Even if she refused to do these things, Disney would just find someone else to dance around on stage, lip-synching to hideously altered vocals and holding on to “not” a stripper pole.

Good. That’s a relief. Okay, in that case, I agree with you, but the first movie that really super turned me off to Disney was Pocahontas. Way to exploit a historical figure into your fantasy movie, Disney! But I think they have made some decent movies since Little Mermaid. Aladdin and Lion King come to mind. That’s about all I can think of, though. LOL (I have two kids under age 9 so I’ve gotten plenty of Disney in the last several years.)

I disagree about “The Little Mermaid” being the last good Disney cartoon film. “Beauty and the Beast” is a great one (my favorite) because it focuses on what’s inside being what counts, and because they actually take their time to fall in love. And, when they do start falling for each other, he gives her a library (that scene has always been the one I wanted to happen to me one day) which shows that he recognizes that she’s intelligent and respects it. Plus, it’s just the best.

Mulan’s not that bad, either, because she gets to kick a$$ and take names and prove that while girls may not always have the brute strength to do something, we’re far from helpless. That’s just on the female-role-model front, though.

I totally agree with everything else you said, though. It’s hardly her fault that Disney has turned into the skank-o-matic channel. That’s all Disney, and Disney would change the programming if no watched it, so it’s all on us, really. Well, not necessarliy /us/ but the people who let their kids watch this crap.
