At least she is real. I know I would be pissed if I went to a concert where they used special effects to enhance their voice. She is proving to the world that anyone can achieve their dreams. Yes her voice isn’t perfect but doesn’t that make you fully believe that your own dreams are possible?

She is a great role model who doesn’t use her sexuality to sell her music, she relates to all the real life experiences normal girls go through. That is what makes her a great singer, even live.

I wouldn’t say either one is “better.” They’re both in country music, yes. But they have very different styles of singing and sing different things. For instance, Taylor doesn’t typically sing about going and partying while Gretchen doesn’t typically sing about guys who don’t realize “she’s the one.” They’re different and both good. Gretchen is also more experienced and more established in the Country Music society. She’s had more time to grow into herself and her style. Taylor is still starting out.

Did you even read the comment you’re responding to? Because you’re not even responding to what was posted.

Miley did not perform that song…hence the sentence “At least Miley didn’t sing a super creepy/sexy song with a group of guys old enough to be her dad…”. The performance was only Def Leppard and Taylor Swift. It was for CMT’s crossover thingy originally and then was performed on the CMT awards for some reason. It was creepy. It shouldn’t have even been suggested.

Oh and you really need to expand your horizons on Myspace apparently. There are plenty of us who have not taken naughty pics. And yes, other teens take naughty pics and post them on Myspace. But most of them aren’t Disney stars who are supposed to hold the image of a good girl.

Oh and Miley does not rock. She would be a full-fledged pop star.

Taylor Swift is ok.

She’s not as country as I like, but then most country starts these days aren’t as country as I’d like.

She was already very, very well known among country music fans a long, long time before the Kanye West incident. She has appeared on numerous national Counrtry Music awards shows for several years. She’s been the most downloaded (legally) music star for almost two years.

Whether you like her or not, you show total ignorance of the US music scene if you claim she wasn’t famous before Kanye. Even though I don’t like Pop, Hip-hop, Rap, or what passes for Rock today, I at least recognize the names of the people who are big in those fields.

Talent is a subjective idea, really. It depends on whether you’re “good” at something, and who decides that? In Taylor Swift’s case, you and I can both agree that she’s terrible in live performances. So, she lacks talent when it comes to singing. However, there are a few of her songs that I like, and you say you love her music. So, she could be called a talented songwriter. “Talent” is not an all-or-nothing deal.

Let me get this straight. You’re saying that you don’t know anyone who dresses normally and sings better than Taylor Swift? That’s your shining beacon of singing talent and modest dressing. Have you heard her sing ANYTHING????? She sounds absolutely DREADFUL live. I heard her on SNL, and she didn’t sound confident at all – you could hear her nervousness in her wavering voice. For someone miles better, you don’t even have to go outside the country genre to find a female performer who’s talented and modest. Gretchen WIlson runs rings around Taylor Swift musically, and looks very good in jeans and a tank top. I haven’t listened to any of Gretchen’s original stuff, but I heard her live cover of “Barracuda”…and she absolutely killed it. If Taylor even dared to approach that song, she’d be curled up in the fetal position in 15 seconds.
