This poster and you guys are obviously missing the point:
Nerds DIDN’T WANT TO BE COOL! They HATED the cool kids, because being cool meant flunking English, playing sports, beating up smaller kids, and smoking by age 9!
Jaleel White was a good actor who did a good job at portraying something that was rare in my city: A black nerd.

Nerds were never cool…that’s what made them nerds. Just because they were entertaining and good for a laugh, doesn’t mean they were cool. The whole point of being a nerd is NOT being cool, and not conforming to typical social standards.

Jaleel White played a character in my daughter’s favorite movie, “Miracle Dogs Too,” with super-hottie Jonathon Trent, who is the only reason I’ll watch it. It’s just as stuffed full of cheesy morals as Family Matters ever was. Rad.

Nice, you can get a good idea of the amount of nerds here by simply counting all posts that claim nerds were/are cool.
I doubt however that being a nerd today no longer means getting your ass kicked for uncool behaviour.

Family Matters was a funny show and it wasn’t all about Urkel. The whole ensemble was what made the show – Harriet and Karl, Eddie, Laura , Ritchie and Rachel and Estelle. Jaleel White was talented, but I wish he had made Urkel more belivable – such as using his own voice. They should have let Steve grow. The nerdiness was funny the first two years, but he should have been more subtile later on. My favorite episode was when Urkel won the basketball game.

Not even in the ballpark of cool. What horrified me was my son got a Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. And guess who was the voice of ol’ Sonic. Yup. Urkel. I hate that fvcking cartoon.
