  1. South beach says:

Bah, I never like Lord of the Rings anyway.

  2. Alex says:

What? He didn’t die, he went on to become the Herbology professor at Hogwarts.

  3. Kimsan says:

    But He didn’t die? I don’t get this…

  4. Apyt says:

    Neville FTW!

  5. Taaroko says:

Ahem, I believe that would be three years of awesome. The movies may suck at portraying it, but Neville’s epic character development began to show during the DA meetings in OotP.

    • The Amazing Rando says:

True, but it wasn’t until book 7 that his leadership skills finally took over. Totally different Neville from the first 6 books. And the movies flat out don’t count.

  6. kajoncas says:

I think it’s supposed to be that he didn’t do so great for the first six years he was at hogwarts and then look at what he does in book 7…the way he just showed his inner strength and took on everything that came at him, but it really started in book five at the ministry battle…so i think a better caption to stay in that idea would have been “took five years of crap and turns in 2″ or something like that…

  7. Jimmy says:

Is this supposed to mean something? who is neville longbottom?

  8. Travis says:

Hasn’t there only been 6 movies? I don’t get it.

    • Flick says:

You do know that they were book BEFORE they were movies, don’t you??

And where does it say he died? No mention of Longbottom deathn in caption!

      • catgal says:

the point is that it wasn’t like that “1 year of awesome” was the last year of his life. he didn’t just go back to how he was after that year.

  9. Foop says:

    Whoo for Neville! ^__^

  10. Zip Zop Zoobity Bop says:

I personally don’t like movie Neville. I’ve always pictured him more like a portly kid. But he’s still my fave HP character. Go Neville!

  11. Buyn says:

I was mostly referring to the snake bit of awesomeness.

  12. Harvey says:

The actor was a bit portly in the first couple of movies, but he’s really come into his own since Phoenix. The Harry-Neville bonding started there & got stronger when Harry kept Neville’s secret after seeing him at the Hospital visiting his parents. I’d say his character first started breaking through in Book 4, and it was Neville who found the Room of Requirement in Book 5 AND insisted they all join Harry at the ministry. So it was no surprise to me that he was the one who led the student uprising in Book 7.

As you can tell, Neville is one of my favorite characters. :)

    • Burgundy says:

Okay, Neville did NOT die. Neville is pure AWESOMENESS (I know a lot of y’all agree, just reinforcing it). Neville has been a great character, not just since GoF. In the SS (book1), he stands up and tells harry, hermione, and ron that they shouldn’t go try to find the Stone. As Dumbledore says, “It takes great bravery to stand up to your enemies, but even greater courage to stand up to your friends” (or something like that. Recited that off the top of my head and I have this phobia of repeating words. Sorry.)
      Neville is is AWESOME!!!!

  13. thx1449 says:

I haven’t read these books since the 8th grade. Gotta pick ‘em up some time.

And yeah, I thought neville was an amazing character. Loved how he turned out. This was from a time when even the minor comic relief characters were more developed and well-written than the regular characters of many YA novels today. I miss it so.

  14. Jane St.Clair says:

    Fvck yeah, he does.

  15. Philip says:

Did I miss the note that Harry Potter is cool “again”? Or has the average age of people here dropped from 13 to 9?

    • Hermio-ninny says:

Harry Potter has always been cool! And anyway, the appropriate age has grown as Harry has grown, so the target audience age wasn’t supposed to be the same.

  16. Shewholuvs2lol says:

Um, Harry Potter was ALWAYS cool.

  17. Readaholic says:

Harry Potter ROCKED!! Well the books at least, the movies not so much. Peeves isn’t in the movies!!!! That’s what really ticked me off.

  18. what kind of a name is longbottom?

  19. pollyfoxburr says:

I never liked how they gave him that goofy fake overbite in the movies, I gotta say. But Neville was my favorite character in the books from GOF onward. I was so proud of him by the end of book 7! (And, no, you don’t have to be 13 to love these books; I’m 49.)

  20. the_anachronism_kid says:

I love neville, He’s kinda my fave

  21. IrishZombies says:

AWWW that face. I wanna pinch his cheeks <3

  22. becca says:

Man I love fellow Harry Potter Nerds
