We’ve selected 6 of the most popular (read: overrated) celebrities and moments in pop culture from the last year. Say goodbye to 2009 by reliving some of the best (and worst) moments of the last 365 days. We’re aware that most of these images have already been captioned (most of them multiple times), so we’ll really be looking for captions that are fresh, funny, and different.

You know her songs, you know her crazy outfits. Whether you love her or hate her, Lady GaGa was the breakout pop sensation of 2009. Though she provided many memorable fashion moments (disasters?) this year, we think the red lace ensemble she donned to accept her VMA award in September is especially…caption worthy.
There’s not much to say about the cast of the Twilight movies that hasn’t already been said before. But they’re everywhere, and it seems that people like nothing more these days than to poke fun at Robert Pattinson’s unsexiness or Kristin Stewart’s wooden acting or Taylor Lautner’s pectoral muscles. We know some of you are sick of hearing about Twilight, but it still persists. And probably will continue to persist since they have a few more movies to make. Blerg.
Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift at the MTV VMA Awards
The moment that spawned a thousand parodies, a pop culture catchphrase, and a universal hatred for one of the most popular musicians of the last decade. We know it’s been done to death, but for the sake of 2009-tinted nostalgia, give it one last go. Surely, there is still some humor to be milked out of this huge moment.
How is it that a person who didn’t even WIN American Idol can cause so much fuss? More famous for his sexuality (and his sexual antics on stage) than for any particular song or style, Mr. Lambert has both delighted and annoyed people all year long. Will he, like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, manage to carve out a long career? Or will we be saying “Adam who?” in 2010?
She came out of nowhere and, by the looks of it, most people thought she’d stay nowhere. Then she opened her mouth to sing, and millions of people became instant fans. Her debut album has already sold, like, 8 katrillion copies in a day and age when artists struggle to go double platinum. Now she’s everywhere, always giving a thumbs-up. And I can’t walk into a Barnes and Noble without hearing her warble “Wild Horses.”

Some of us thought Mr. Hilton had had it coming for a long time. When it finally happened, most of us weren’t even shocked. Still, it made for a few compelling celebrity news cycles. And few things this year were funnier than Mr. Hilton taking to the internet to whine on video about the assault.

Watch the acoustic videos when she plays the piano. She really CAN sing, but she also knows what’s popular (who DOESN’T use Auto-Tune right now?)

She went to Juliard. You gotta have massive musical talent to go there, so obviously she has some. Too bad no one can tell just by listening to her music. Waste of talent? Sure. But she’s making more money now than any of us ever will in our lifetime, so God bless her.
Actually, there’s quite a few things out there that do show her talent. Her sound system failed in New Orleans once, and she just went right on. Her acoustic sets are also pretty awesome, but unfortunately, raw talent doesn’t get you everywhere. She’s erratic, but she works it well.

Thats exactly when i realised she could sing! I hadn’t heard that song before and i was in the other room but just had to see who it was singing cos it was fantastic – i was totally shocked when i realised it was Lady GaGa! Youtube some of her acoustic preformances – she’s one talented lady for sure!!

I agree that “Lady” GaGa’s lack of fashion sense is hillarious. Why is she wearing an epic sock over her body? I’ve nothing to say about her music though.

At one point, everyone was making nasty comments about Cher’s clothes. But Cher still turned out to be a long lived legend and a classic. Perhaps Lady Gaga will turn out the same. Ten years in the future, some of the things she wears might be normal.

Okay, Lady Gaga is one of the best singers/song writers ever. People just don’t like her because she is not “normal”. What the hell is normal anyway? People are used to seeing the same thing over and over again, and they don’t like change?? She is an ARTIST! Her clothes are a way of showing art. Also, most people don’t know the stories behind her magnificent songs. Learn more about her before you judge her on her appearance. By the way, SHE DOES NOT USE AUTO-TUNE!! That still follows. With that amount of attention, you can use that to get ad money or to promote the album, book, movie, etc.
