it’s DWARVES. not dwarfs.
Did I really get first by commenting on a spelling/grammar error?! What is the world coming to?
yes grammar fail and also SeCoNd!!111!!one!!
And it’s on an LOL-type site…spelling, I don’t think, is really supposed to count.
Spelling is indeed supposed to count. The only places spelling does not count are the animal sites.
I noticed that too; it’s Dwarves.
I play too much WoW……
lol me too, I read it and while funny the first thing I see is the incorrect plural for dwarves
Apparently the plural of dwarf, in the context of real human beings with dwarfism, is dwarfs. Tolkien created the term dwarves for his stories. So you are right, but the poster is less wrong than one might think. *is a TOTAL geek*
but since the particular dwarf in question is from Tolkein, it should be dwarves.
e-pwned
The grammar/spelling debate was raging on GraphJam yesterday…looks like it’s overflowed onto this page!
At least this one can be verified for sure–in the books, Tolkien defends his reason for the spelling.
lol…I love how the first few people to comment in here did it for the same reason…
Spelling does count, and although I prefer “dwarves,” it’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Dwarfs is accepted, even though I don’t like it.
so the plural of knife is knifes?
All this about Dwarves and nothing on headbut?
Why would you want to headbutt someone in the balls? That’s the real question.
It’s worse for the victim, I imagine.
when the hell was the e dropped from axe??
When the Americans got hold of it, like the “u” in colour, harbour…
That sir, is wrong. Axe is still axe in America.
Nice…
headbutt. there.
Dwarves are like submarines, you never realize they are around you until is too late
Dwarves not dwarfs and headbutt not headbut.
I am way too distracted by the spelling to see the humor in this.
Use a spell checker for Christ’s sake!
Had you not been so distracted you’d have been able to read the other comments and seen that, one, both of those had been pointed out already, and two, “dwarfs” is actually the correct term.
Tolkien specified ‘Dwarves’, knowing fully well that the correct term was dwarfs.
I think the quality of the caption would be improved if it said “so easily” instead of just “easily”. It just sounds more like something Gimli would say, that way.
And “dwarfs” is the multiple term for all human short people. Dwarves are a different species/race, and are entirely fictional. Considering that the danger is people headbutting you in the balls, Dwarfs are a greater risk than Dwarves. So you go not insult Dwarves, and I’ll go not insult Dwarfs. And we’ll see who comes home with the most testicles. It will be me.
Ignoring the spelling war, just wanna put it out there.
John-Rhys Davies: Fantastic, highly dedicated, and seriously underappreciated actor.
The best bit about John Rhys-Davies playing Gimli was that he’s actually over 6′ tall.
You should worry more about the elves anyway; reasoning, from JRRK:_
Legolas “My count is now 41; it has been knifework down here”. From the Battle of Helm’s Deep, if anyone cares enough to check the books or a concordance.
On the other hand, Gimli did win that contest, if I remember correctly, though I can’t find the bit in the books where he says it so I may be wrong. By only one orc, but victory is victory, and dwarves are sturdy folk.
Yes he did. He slayed 42 orcs
But notched his axe :’(
Because the 42ond orc had an iron collar…
*ends geek moment
Guess he’ll use the axe way before headbutting you in the nuts xD
*LAWL*
Dwarves are like submarines.Right on!! And some interesting too
)
dwarves.
So I was all “LOL, A+” when I saw this, now my g-string is all in a bunch over the spelling mistakes. D=
It’s the same reason my father advised me to never piss off a short woman. “When you go nose to nose her toes are in it, and when you go toe to toe her nose is in it.”
GRAMMAR NAZIS UNITE!
