    This pic is AWESOME.

  2. JAmaral says:

Hey…does Adam have SIX fingers on his left hand???!!!!

  3. Ssyrie says:

Anyone know if you can get a poster of this?

  4. JAmaral says:

Ahhh. Now I see it better. Crappy PRK surgery. *blush*

  5. Alex says:

    MYTH-BUSTERS!
    Science in disguise!

  6. Ethan says:

Look on deviantart.com. If you find it you can probably buy a print of it.

  7. 'Nuther Guest says:

Science is easy when you get to just make sh*t up and call it “scientific”.

    • gow says:

none of it is made up, clearly you don’t watch the show

      • jasonx says:

Yeah, he’s definitely never seen the show or he’d know he was talking out of his ass.

        • Charlie Oscar Delta says:

i kinda get the feel that idiot’s a creationist

          • username says:

What? Good grief, do you really think creationists are not interested in science? Sounds like Charlie Oscar Delta should look into creationism JUST a wee bit, then come back and tell us how creationists WOULDN’T be interested in this show? They are two different “types” of research.

Mythbusters deals with empirical science and the scientific method, not forensic science (which is what creationism and evolutionism are)…google if you don’t know what forensic science is. I am NOT talking about CSI, just in case you were wondering.

so, do a little bit of reading, Charlie. find out what the creationists are into. Know your subject, eh, before posting a stupid comment like this.

            • paws4thot says:

Typical line from a creationist – “But Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is only a theory”. I think that proves all you need to know about how interested creationists are in science.

              • username says:

hm, I don’t see that line anywhere in my comments. hm.

Like I said, google “empirical science” and find out just exactly how much “empirical science” is involved in evolutionary or creationist research. And quit using straw man fallacy. Making up a “line” that “typical” creationists use, and applying it to THIS discussion doesn’t prove anything except that you don’t really know how to discuss things.

                • paws4thot says:

The word empirical denotes information gained by means of observation, experience, or experiment. A central concept in science and the scientific method is that all evidence must be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses. It is usually differentiated from the philosophic usage of empiricism by the use of the adjective “empirical” or the adverb “empirically.” “Empirical” refers to the use of working hypotheses that are testable using observation or experiment. In this sense of the word, scientific statements are subject to and derived from our experiences or observations. Empirical data are data that are produced by experiment or observation.

None of which actually devalues the use of theoretical science, for example, in producing ideas to test empirically. Or alters the empirical fact that every other creationist I’ve ever talked to has said things like I quoted, as an argument that “Darwin must be wrong because his theory hasn’t been proven”, rather than “this is unprovable, but it’s the best explanation we’ve got of how species change over generations”, and the fact that species do change over generations has been empirically proven. Try web searchs for “Gregor Mendel” and/or “fruitflies” if you don’t believe me.

In point of fact, unless you believe the Bible to be literal truth, Darwinian evolution works quite well as one of the mechanisms of creation.

                  • username says:

Darwinism IS “only” a theory; creationism, too. And always will be, since the way to prove a theory is through duplicatable experimentation, observation of results, etc.

Evolution (that is, survival of the fittest and natural selection) IS the best explanation for how species CHANGE…but no matter how many fruit flies are mutated, genetically altered through exposure, etc…they are still fruit flies. And yes, even fruit flies that adapt to exist on flesh over generations. Still fruit flies, not house flies, not gnats, not any other type of fly.

The main beef creationism has with Darwinism is the belief that species become increasingly complex over eons, and that a type of animal (fish) over time changes to another type (amphibian) They are separate types, and even unnatural selection (breeding a horse with a donkey) produces non-fertile offspring, (Mules are all non-fertile) hence not a new TYPE of animal, because it can’t pass its genes to a next generation.

                    • meep says:

it’s worth pointing out that evolution is not a guided process, nor is it a strive towards complexity or perfection it is random mutation that provides an alteration that luck would have it help the creature to survive.

To give an example of an animal evolving to be less complex many species of fish and insects that have grown used to living in caves have become blind over generations. Spiders and fish that expended energy to grow eye’s and attempt to use them often died compared to others which had a defect that ment their eye’s did’nt grow at all, in order to survive they became reliant on other senses and survived.

In conclusion argueing that species or unable to change from one to another relies on human definition, humans have a tendency to want to group things however this is not a hard and fast science and many alterations have been made to how animals should be grouped. Their are many fish that secrete oxygen rich goo so they can survive on land for periods of time (such as when a swamp dried up), although we still define them as fish they are different from other fish and it is possible to prove that this is a relativly new development, it is possible that they could be redefined amphibians later in the future but scientists are unlikely to do so because the most people would’nt care.

How many schools still teach that pluto is a planet, it has’nt changed but our definition of planet has and as such it no longer qualifies. who’s to say the opposite could’nt occur where a species DOES change and yet peoples acknowledgement of it’s current grouping no longer being applicable may take years to alter. This does’nt make evolution wrong but merely people will see what they want to see.

                    • truth says:

No, hun, creationism is NOT a theory, it isn’t even a hypothesis. It does not meet the standards to be considered scientific in any way, shape, or form. Creationism is ignorance at face value, a simple admission that you don’t know and thus attribute the explanation to god.

We have created new species, sweetie. We have created new creatures that can breed with each other and are not fertile with the ‘parent stock’. We’ve proven that aspect of evolution already. Learn something before you spout off next time.

  8. Molly says:

Can I be Kari now, kthx?

  9. Hapiface says:

    Are they both left handed?

  10. Smurf says:

There’s a problem with the poster… there’s no walrus in it.

  11. Philip says:

    Guns, explosions, women…
Three things we don’t have nearly enough of in science.

  12. Scott says:

Mythbusters will be back in Mythbusters: Thunderballs

  13. paws4thot says:

    Adam
    Jamie
    Tori
    Kari
    Grant

Apart, they’re just 5 ordinary geeks:

    Together they are the Mythbusters!!

  14. timmayy says:

    mythbusters rocks my socks.

    and Kari is lookin’ hott.

  15. Anyone else think Adam has Michael Keaton’s eyebrows?

  16. grandevil says:

It’s Awesome-Epic!!! ZOMG Words cannot describe!

  17. vandalfan says:

Unless they’re both left-handed, this image is reversed. And Tory and Grant are much better looking than mere villians. They could be M and Q.

  18. Schmoe says:

They really don’t go very deep, scientifically speaking, do they? But this painting is a hoot.

  19. Blue says:

Artist for illustration is Steven Chorney; appears it was done for a cover of Discovery magazine. You may be able to get this print with some googling.

    • OrionRed says:

I actually found an email address, and he actually responded:

      Sorry Red-

Wish I could help …there are no posters as of yet.
      Everyday people ask.

  20. StealthNinja says:

Tory looks kinda chubby in this picture…or is it just me?

  21. J says:

Kari looks like a dude because she’s just way too skinny in this pic. In RL, she’s got nice curves.

  22. Bill D says:

If science had been that cool…you would have failed since they get so much wrong. Loading something with C4 to see what it looks like when it explodes is NOT science.

    • Endarkened says:

Bill, when confronted with the doomsday alien reactor core, and you only have 3 pieces of C4, and you dont know if you need 1,2 or all 3, then you will regret your words dearly.

    • paws4thot says:

No, but figuring out that what kills fish in a barrel when you shoot them is overpressure, not the bullet is. Shooting the fvck out of a barrel with a Gatling minigun afterwards is fun for geeks and kids.

  23. Strategia says:

I want to have this painted on my wall.

  24. Meshakhad says:

Sheer awesome. They should use this for a DVD cover.

  25. Jrod says:

EPIC!!!! Btw… isnt Kari a “MILFbuster” now?

… and of course its science to see how if a water heater can explode and launch itself through your roof…

… and a couple of hundred feet into the air afterwards…

  26. Erik says:

Now if only we could get Kari to dress like that on mythbusters all the time

  27. Visa says:

I love watching them when i turn on my TV once in awhile.

  28. maxyne says:

    EPIC WIN
