Using religious imagery in music videos is pretty offensive to people, while frosting squirting from tubes connected to your chest may be strange, it’s hardly objectionable on religious grounds.

Pretty much sums up the whole blasphemy thing. People who like his stuff, listen to it and the ones who are offended by it, don’t. Just because some people have a religious stick up their @$s and feel like nothing should ever offend what they think and believe… doesn’t mean that the rest of the world actual cares about that opinion. People are going to $h!t on your beliefs just like you are going to do to theirs.

I commend you for quoting Tim Minchin on this one. He might seem like a lowly singer-comedian, but in my opinion some of his philosophy is more intelligent than that of many religious or political leaders.

Nah. If you have freedom of speech, you have the freedom to word your offended feelings. Anyway, taking offense is an emotional reaction and thus cannot really be helped by laws or principles, and freedom of speech doesn’t mean people don’t get to complain about what others do or say, it only means the government is not allowed to interfere.

What I liked was the time she came out and said file sharing was bad, but she was giving away on her website for unrestricted download “mp3 mixtapes” which were several full songs combined into a single MP3 file, from other singers, without credit, permission or recompense to the original artists or record companies.
I don’t know what MPD is, but if it being habitually hypocritical, then I agree!

I think we can all agree that it says that 2 men having sechsual relations is wrong (whether or not we agree with that statement, and I note that it specifically says 2 men, not 2 people, so apparently lesbian sechs is ok anyway).

Gaga only wanted shock and controversy. She’s as shrewd as Madonna about what makes the industry tick. And just like Madonna,she pretends the gimmicks are for some deeper,altruistic reason.
As much as I love what ROFLrazzi posts on here, I gotta say I can’t agree with this criticism of Katy Perry’s tweet. Putting aside opinions of who’s more talented or original, or even the validity of Perry’s fart joke analogy, it’s my personal opinion that blatant sacrilege and shameless desecration of religious and/or sacred themes/images is FAR more offensive than risqué, sexually charged imagery. This matter goes beyond “moral content”: one might say Perry is [tackily] expressing her sexuality in her video, while Gaga is taking something as holy as a crucifix, inverting it, and placing it on her genitals while munching on rosaries. Perry might be unintentionally offending someone through her expression (though it could be any religious person, or society, or even a hot-headed feminist for that matter), but Gaga is attacking a religion in its entirety, and therefore ALL its values and ALL its followers.
And it’s true, she has no right to judge, but aren’t you glad she did so you’d have something to blog about?
