Here comes the science bit…
Any rainbow is always accompanied by a second, fainter one (known as the secondary bow). It’s just that the secondary bow is just not always as visible, because it’s fainter. The area between the bows is always darker and is known as Alexander’s dark band.
To create your own rainbows to see for yourself, on a sunny day stand with your back to the sun and use a hose or, preferably, a sprinkler.
It’s even rarer to see this, but there is also sometimes a visible 3rd diffraction fringe associated with a rainbow.
The only thing that is unusual about the second fringe here is that NPH is in the same photo.

I just got back from the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota and we saw one

That’s the first time I’ve actually seen a gay person with a real rainbow which made my day. This is just more proof that NPH is epic.
