Not everyone in the UK uses it as an insult. I’m from England and I love red-heads and I don’t use ginger as an insult. I love Rupert too, he’s even cuter in real life.

Seriously I never heard the phrase Ginger or knew of disliking redheads until that episode, and now it’s inescapable.

Logic fail. Being a ginger is about behaviour as much as about hair colour, and “redhead” is not a recognised ethnic grouping.
For instance, “Carrot top” is a ginger, but Rupert Grint (qv) is a redhead.
Hating gingers, whatever kind of “ism” it is, is still stupid and offensive. I would know.
I have no idea what “ism” hating stupid and offensive people with a specific hair colour might be, but I hate stupid and offensive people of all hair and skin colours.

I used to get that too! Now that my hair is long though it’s just naturally wavy and instead of calling me Little Orphan Annie, they just sneak up and touch me. It’s rather unnerving. Being a redhead is awesome, but kinda scary sometimes. I am not in a petting zoo people.

I like being a redhead, but old guys hit on me a lot and old ladies always feel the need to describe their entire family geneology to me and who in their family had red hair. “Oh, my mother’s cousin’s brother’s nephew had red hair JUST like yours! I think he got it from his mother’s side, her sister’s father had it but then their brother’s child didn’t…”
Don’t ever go to Mexico then. When I was in high school, my best friend had beautiful red hair, Irish setter red. We went to Mexico as part of a student group and everyone freaked wherever we went, wanting to touch her hair.

I’m not sure where the whole ginger thing started, as I’m pretty sure it was around before SP, but I have the feeling that it has to do with what ‘ginger’ is an anagram of, and originated with satirical intent.

Rupert Grint is the HOTTEST and (sorry, Dan, you are a brilliant actor, but I have to go with my Rupey) most talented actor of the whole HP series (of actors 25 years old and below). Ginger hair is my thing, I love anything ginger haired (except Carrot Top). Rupert Grint is a brilliant actor. I hope he comes to America to do something on stage, which he said he would love to do something Shakespeare (he didn’t say in America, but I’m hoping).
It really is poor Rupert. He’s always pushed to the side, but in reality, he has the most skills at acting, it seems so natural for him.
I don’t remember the details, but I believe Rupert had been acting for quite a while before the HP series came along.
Harry Potter was actually his first movie and his first acting experience outside of school plays and the like. I know that Tom Felton had been acting beforehand, and Daniel Radcliffe did a bit, but Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were both fresh faces to the movie scene.

I don’t get the redhead hatred either. My husband is redheaded, and I happen to think he’s adorable of course, but ever since I heard that the redheaded gene is disappearing, my attention is drawn to redheaded kids, just because it’s good to see that it’s not going away just yet. I recently complimented the mom of a little ginger boy at my twin nieces’ birthday party, commenting on his very pretty red hair, and she sort of sighed and said that it was inescapable, that it ran in both sides of the family. Like having red hair was a horrible disfigurement. I don’t get people.

Ive watched both Driving lessons and cherrybomb today. Hes very handsome and totally HOT in driving lessons, but he´s less handsome in cherrybomb. I believe this is due his movie character(smokes, drugs etc.) I was crazy about him since i´ve seen HP3. Now hes still on my hottielist

While walking through a festival recently a drunk stranger pointed at me and screamed “Hey! Youre Ron Weasley, but you arent scared of Dementors because you dont have a soul!” That same weekend I was also compared to Mick Hucknall, Jesus, the bassist from Biffy Clyro and Harry Potter somehow.
