He’s the very definition of how to turn child stardom into success (though to be fair he was in his teens when he started doing film roles).
I could list dozens of child/teen stars who’ve either died young, faded into obscurity, or continue embarrassing themselves by trying to clutch whatever scrap of fame they can find. The majority of those still in the public eye are a mess of neuroses. Much smaller is the list of positive examples, like Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, Jerry O’Connell, or those who survived rough or stagnant patches like Drew Barrymore or Jason Bateman.
NPH is a child star who skipped the drug stage, skipped the doldrums, just kept his career going as opportunities popped up on TV or on stage. He started with a couple of small movies, followed by playing the lead in Doogie Howser, M.D. before he could drive, and instead of letting his career ride upon people’s nostalgia for his role as Doogie he kept on pushing himself. He’s shown a willingness to mock his own career, like with his character in Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, and a knack for picking good roles or making decent roles work.
Of course, he hasn’t been without bad roles, like his voice part in the recent Cats and Dogs sequel, but I dare anyone to find me an actor with more than a dozen roles who hasn’t had at least one stinker.

I have seen a few episodes of Dexter and my opinion is that it was over hyped.

on a geeky note, if those coasters are supposed to represent Dexter’s slide collection, the design is um. bad.. Cause you don’t see a splatter effect on slides.. It ends up as just a blot (if that’s the right word)
In any case, I’d love to get those coasters!
