  1. Huzzah says:

I was just (and I mean literally, JUST) looking at Gary Oldman’s IMDB page, marvelling at the epic diversity of his roles. He really is one of the best actors of this age!

  2. tom says:

    hes very underated

  3. Bethany says:

For a long time, I didn’t realize that the same man played the terrorist in Air Force One and Comissioner Gordon in Batman Begins. These are two of my favorite movies that I’ve seen dozens of times!! And I’m good with actors!! And he looks pretty much the same in both movies!!

    Good God what an actor…

    • zem says:

No kidding. I’ve been known to watch movies with Gary Oldman in them, know ahead of time that Gary Oldman is in them, expect to see Gary Oldman at any moment… and then suddenly realize he’s actually playing a character I’ve already seen for a few scenes, and I hadn’t recognized him yet.

  4. Jessica says:

    They left out Awesome-Godfather-Wizard-Who-Dies-Lame-Death.

  5. Huzzah says:

Okay — it’s driving me insane. I cannot for the life of me remember which movie the “Meatbag” character is from… can someone help me out?? I know I should know this…

  6. murdoc says:

What about minor Shakespearean character? Did no one see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead? Richard Dreyfuss was in that. So was Tim Roth. Good movie!

  7. Scott Kirwin says:

He’s also the voice of Victor Reznov in the video games Call of Duty – World at War, and Call of Duty – Black Ops.

  8. shortstack says:

Also, he is just plain sexy. Fantastic actor, and easy on the eyes.

  9. Silka says:

They also forgot dragon: he played Ignitus in the Spyro games. :D

    • AfleetAlexandra says:

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who remembered that!

I loved the Spyro games ever since the first ones on Playstation, but him as Ignitus made the transition to the PS2 games that much easier.

  10. The also forgot the the wolf hunter from Red Riding Hood. He made that movie watchable…

  11. Mrextreme says:

Can some tell me what are all these movies? I know Air Force One, Harry Pottet and Batman but what are the others?

  12. someone says:

I have no idea what movies most of these are from, and I had no idea that in the few that I do know (Batman, Fifth Element, Planet 51, Harry Potter) the characters shown were played by the same guy.

  13. Zoe says:

I knew he was in the Dark Knight and Harry Potter, but I didn’t realise he was in the Fifth element until my dad pointed it out.

Also, I didn’t realise it was him playing the ‘meatbag’ right up until this point.
Gary Oldman is a very good actor.

  14. SMD says:

This totally explains why I have so much trouble recognising anything he’s in. I usually get halfway through a move and wonder to myself (and sometimes outloud) “I thought Gary Oldman was in this”.

The only movie I really remember him from (apart from Harry Potter) is as the bad guy inspector in The Professional (aka Leon). That movie was awesomeness start to finish.

    • Sofa Spud says:

Yes, but the movie’s title is Léon (that’s not an “a.k.a.”) — “The Professional” is what the U.S. distributor decided to put on all the movie posters, because they thought it was an action movie and also believed (also incorrectly) that American audiences wouldn’t go see it without an “action movie” title.

  15. Xtifr says:

After years of careful study, I have almost learned to recognize him when he appears in a new movie. He really is a chameleon.

  16. Plasticfroggy says:

    Gary Oldman is awesome!

When did he play Beethoven? Points for labeling him “rock star”!

  17. Wasp says:

He also was a little person once, next to Peter Dinklage. And a wishfullfilling leprechaun or something. And the devil.

  18. Squarez says:

    O. W. Grant!

  19. Trish says:

Please fill in the blanks, I’m not sure what some of these movies are!

ROW 1 (TOP ROW): Prick Up Your Ears, Murder In the First, Lost In Space, Air Force One, Dark Knight, Quest For Camelot

ROW 2: The Fifth Element, ?, Jesus, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, ?, The Scarlet Letter

ROW 3: True Romance, The Professional/Leon, Harry Potter films, Criminal Law, ?, A Christmas Carol (and for the record, he wasn’t a puppet but CGI)

    ROW4: ?, Immortal Beloved, Sid & Nancy, Hannibal, ?, Planet 51

  20. old fart says:

Lee Harvey Oswald (possible patsy?) from JFK is missing

  21. John says:

The punk rocker one is him playing Sid Vicous from the Sex Pistols…btw he looks exactly like Sid in that movie

  22. Sarah says:

It is amazing how many characters he has play and you never realize its him.

  23. zombie_lolita says:

Its missing Rosencrantz from “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead” And epic cult movie my parents saw the year I was born, Its on Netflix instant view!

  24. jen says:

Holy crap, I had no idea he was the dude in Hannibal! (um, the ‘meatbag’)

  25. Magnus says:

This is missing Corrupt Cop (Romeo is Bleeding) – Probably the unluckiest character he ever played.

  26. moop says:

Even being told that all of these are him, 50% of them look like some other guy completely. Does he change his face?! Why can I never recognize him?!

  27. Tommy says:

    He will be everyone!

    Why?

    It’s Gary Oldman’s Show!

  28. Gertrude says:

    Needs updating.
In addition to those mentioned above, a kind of Genie in the film interstate 60, son of leprechaun and indian woman I think. XD

  29. Brennan says:

    what about Srg. Reznov?

  30. twobit says:

    “i’m wearing two belts…”

  31. MsWormwood says:

Watch the movie Dracula. He has multiple faces and personalities, playing the same vampire. One Halloween I realized the red armor he wears at the end looks like muscle tissue with the skin removed. Eeesh.
